Your new role

The Actuarial community at QBE Insurance is full of experienced professionals who are incredibly passionate and dedicated to making a significant contribution to the way we operate our business. We are seeking an Actuarial Pricing Manager to join the AUSPAC Transformation Underwriting Team.

In this role, you will play a key part in the delivery of the pricing work of QBE’s Modernisation program, particularly the delivery of Elders Personal Pack, Elders Farm, and/or Elders Business Packages.

In this role, you will be responsible for and/or contribute to:

  • Working with internal stakeholders to deliver updated algorithms and prices ready to take to market
  • High-level and then detailed algorithm design, leveraging the capabilities of Earnix Price-It
  • Data analysis, modelling, price setting and deployment using Earnix Price-It
  • Interpreting and applying complex models using standard pricing techniques, including GLMs, Machine Learning, Price Simulation and Rate Setting
  • Understanding the impact of pricing on the performance KPIs of various business units
  • Managing allocated projects or assignments, including the delivery for pricing for any allocated products
  • Recognising lead indicators of performance and having a sound understanding of the impact of different drivers and actions on profit and volume outcomes
  • Providing input into a ā€˜best practice’ standard for the later delivery of the pricing for other products in QBE’s New Insurance Platform
  • Contributing to the definition and design of QBE’s future pricing approaches
  • The day-to-day management of actuarial analysts

About you

To be successful you will have:

  • A history of success in the pricing of general insurance products, particularly in commodity / Personal Lines.
  • An understanding of the Business-As-Usual pricing processes, with existing relationships with Pricing’s stakeholders in the CUO and MD units
  • A strong working knowledge of Earnix Price-It, including an understanding of the need for a detailed algorithm specification, an ability to identify the pros and cons of different project and data structures and to foresee the downstream impacts of those structures, and knowledge of how data and analysis steps are structured within Price-It
  • The ability to analyse, interpret and extrapolate statistical and technical pricing data from a number of sources and resolve issues
  • The ability to communicate complicated concepts verbally and in writing in a simple, professional manner
  • A Bachelor's degree in an actuarial or mathematically focused area
