International Actuarial Consultant

Description

We are recruiting for an International Actuarial Consultant for our market-leading Integrated and Global Solutions (IGS) Practice based in London. Our mission is to advise multinational companies on all aspects of pensions and benefits provided to workforces around the world. This covers both strategic and operational activity.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a nearly or newly qualified actuary to join a large, diverse, and successful team. We have an enviable client portfolio that focuses on multinational companies across various sectors, including Pharmaceutical, Financial Services, Oil & Gas, Retail, Construction, and Manufacturing.

Multinational companies face a variety of business, cultural, language, and regulatory environments. We help companies navigate these challenges in relation to pensions, benefits, and employment structures. We advise multinational companies on specialist topics where the IGS has unique experience and act as a single point of contact to help solve client questions by drawing on the expertise of all our colleagues from around the world.

Responsibilities:

This role will entail a combination of leading and supporting activity for our multinational clients in the growth and delivery of global actuarial, M&A support, and other consulting services relating to actuarial and employee benefits. It also involves coordinating local consulting services on actuarial and employee benefit issues.

This role will include:

  • Delivering global pensions accounting consolidation projects under internationally recognized financial reporting standards and advising multinational clients in relation to these accounting requirements. This includes project management, assumption setting, special events reporting, and coordination of the results along with production of disclosures and reports to support these disclosures.
  • Coordinating and managing diverse client teams to support lead and mid-level consultants in delivering advice to the headquarters of our multinational clients on employee benefit matters around the world. This requires working directly with broad teams from across WTW to support IGS elements of wider client engagements. Areas of advice could include benefit design, local compliance, local and global governance processes, merger & acquisition activity, provider selection, and benefit delivery.
  • Coordinating and project managing multi-country projects such as global benefits benchmarking exercises, merger & acquisition activity, total rewards alignment, and initiatives focused on cost efficiency, data analytics, and governance processes.
  • Leading the use of WTW technology to help clients maximize the value from the information collected.
  • Building relationships internally and collaborating effectively on cross-functional and cross-regional teams.
  • Supporting growth and revenue-expansion goals.
  • Contributing to intellectual capital development and new business generation.

Qualifications

The Requirements:

  • Qualified (or Part Qualified) Actuary with strong evidence of working directly with clients to prepare IFRS and/or US GAAP pensions accounting disclosures.
  • A keen interest in the international benefits arena and the ability to collaborate effectively in a direct client-facing global consulting environment.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience in client-facing roles, with direct interaction and engagement with stakeholders.
  • Aptitude for supporting the development of junior and mid-level colleagues through mentoring and collaboration.
  • Awareness of the nuances of cross-border consulting, different cultures, and multinational organizational structures.
  • Ability to adapt positively to change and work confidently in dynamic environments.
  • While technical expertise is important, the ability to interpret and apply technical information to provide practical advice to clients is critical.
  • Excellent consulting skills, including active listening, facilitating discussions, and building trusted relationships at both headquarters and local levels.
  • Strong commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality outcomes with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach to client service, with a proven ability to collaborate with colleagues across WTW’s global network.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence in managing multiple stakeholder groups.
  • A positive, approachable attitude and a strong desire for continuous learning and growth.
