Our Actuaries are on the front lines, quantifying risk, pricing insurance and reserving losses for AIG’s major insurance operating companies globally. We collaborate with Finance, Claims, Operations, Marketing, and Risk Management, among other functions.

As an AIG actuary, you will be challenged and encouraged to reach your greatest potential to help improve how we predict, manage, and mitigate risk.

How you will create an impact

The successful candidate will support the AIG APAC insurance business and work as a member of the APAC actuarial team to achieve goals and deliver on strategic initiatives.

The candidate is expected to work as part of the regional team to provide actuarial advice to business functions including profit centres, underwriting, finance, and risk management, and provide local regulatory support for the assigned APAC countries.

Key accountabilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate US GAAP quarterly management reporting requirements with the regional tower leads.
  • Assist in supporting strategic portfolio reviews and deep dive analyses of certain business segments within APAC.
  • Preparation of local regulatory reporting for AIG’s Australia and New Zealand offices. This includes:
    • Quarterly Board and Risk committee reporting.
    • Quarterly valuation, solvency calculations, and IFRS 17 disclosures.
    • Annual Insurance Liability Valuation Report and Financial Condition / Stress Testing Report.
  • Review of capital projections and investment strategies including ALM (“Asset Liability Matching”).
  • Provide support to the budget loss ratio exercise and annual financial planning.
  • Assist in other ad-hoc analyses as required.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Minimum 3 years of General Insurance experience, preferably reserving in long tail lines.
  • Proficiency in actuarial concepts/methodologies and ability to educate non-technical managers on technical areas that enhance their decision-making ability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective project and time management and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as take responsibility for individual contributions.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise own work.
  • Ability to forge relationships with other areas of the business.
  • Working knowledge of typical actuarial reserving software.
  • Professional behaviour with a high level of integrity.
