The Opportunity
The Retirement & Income Solutions (RIS) Annuity business is seeking an AVP & Actuary, a key and highly visible leadership role within the US Pension Risk Transfer Pricing team. Reporting to the Vice President, Annuity Pricing, this role will provide actuarial and technical leadership for pension risk transfer transactions and other key strategic initiatives in the Pensions business.
This position will also be a people manager for associates and directors within the team. It interacts closely with all areas of RIS, including Product, Contracts, Implementation, Operations, as well as with enterprise stakeholders such as Finance, Actuarial, Risk, Investments, Legal, Tax, Accounting, and Treasury to respond to pricing needs for new business transactions and in-force management.
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Lead and supervise PRT case level pricing from end-to-end: Perform, manage, and lead PRT case level pricing including review of plan documents; analyze participant & case data; recommend assumptions; perform calculations and sensitivity analysis; analyze profitability; review investment portfolios; review offer letters and contracts; post-sale coordination with & delivery of pricing results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactively coordinate with stakeholders and recommend and develop pricing & reinsurance strategies and methodologies, including custom solutions.
- Present pricing results, analysis, and recommendations to executive leadership.
- Act as the primary point person to provide actuarial leadership and support to internal partners (including Implementation, Contracts, & Operations) on all pricing & post-sale items, including amendments, calculation tools, and conversions; ensure timely execution; identify and implement end-to-end process and control improvements.
- Oversee & enhance all pricing and post-sales processes & functions to enhance the quality of work & improve efficiency.
- Ensure effective training, cross-training & development of entire PRT pricing team.
- Serve as people manager for approximately 5 associates / directors within the Annuity pricing team.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics or actuarial science or related discipline.
- Broad knowledge of buy-in, buy-out, qualified and non-qualified pension products, defined contribution and defined benefit pension plans, competitive trends, and U.S. regulatory environment for retirement annuities.
- 10+ years actuarial experience, including at least 2 years in the Pensions space.
- FSA with Society of Actuaries.
- Proven ability to manage timelines for and execute on time-sensitive deliverables.
- Proven experience managing, training, mentoring, and developing actuarial students.
- Strong quantitative and communication skills. Able to concisely present orally and in presentations.
- Strategic and analytical thinker with ability to focus on details. Able to quickly spot issues and develop a recommended approach.
- Strong collaborative skills and proven leadership on cross-functional projects.
- Self-starter with ability to effectively manage and supervise multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Access, Visual Basic, Prophet).
- Excellent analytical and spreadsheet skills.

The expected salary range for this position is $161,000 to $214,600. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
