Our Actuaries are on the front lines, quantifying risk, pricing insurance, and reserving losses for AIG’s major insurance operating companies globally. We collaborate with Finance, Claims, Operations, Marketing, and Risk Management, among other functions. As an AIG actuary, you will be challenged and encouraged to reach your greatest potential to help improve how we predict, manage, and mitigate risk.

Our Financial Actuaries support AIG’s businesses and are responsible for technical pricing, product development analytics, and performance measurement. They collaborate with Marketing, Operations, and Financial Management.

How you will create an impact

We are seeking a dynamic actuary to assist with pricing the US Programs and Private Client Select business. The Actuarial Analyst will be responsible for working with underwriting on pricing of program business by line, profitability analyses, portfolio deep dives, large account pricing, rate monitoring, and other analytics.

This is a unique pricing role in which you will have the opportunity to work on both commercial and personal lines pricing. You will work directly with other departments including Reserving, Underwriting, Product Development, Filings, Finance, and Rate Monitoring.

We are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset that not only wants to further their technical skills but also their business acumen.

  • Work closely with underwriting to develop pricing and underwriting strategies, and assist in the execution and monitoring of said strategies.
  • Complete profitability studies on assigned programs and present analysis in front of business partners at varying levels of the organization.
  • Engage with MGA underwriters and actuaries.
  • Various ad hoc pricing tasks including profitability studies, development of new products, rate and other KPI monitoring, and filings support.
  • Work with the underwriters and rate filings unit to manage program specific and state rate filings.
  • Produce and distribute relevant recurring reports as required.
  • Support development and maintenance of pricing tools such as pricing models, raters, and other analytical tools.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Required successful completion of at least 2 Casualty Actuarial Society exams.
  • Required working knowledge of programming skills (SQL, Python, VBA, R).
  • Preferred experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Preferred 2+ years of pricing experience in commercial lines or personal lines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong business and collaboration skills, and responsive to service needs and operational demands.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Customer focus.

For positions based in New York, the base salary range is $84,000 to $110,000 and for positions based in New Jersey, the base salary range is $80,000 - $103,000. In addition, the positions are eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
