Pricing Actuary (P&C)

This role offers the opportunity to apply advanced actuarial techniques and business acumen to drive performance across Swiss Re’s Property portfolios.

About the Job

Reporting to the Lead Actuary Property EMEA, Energy, APAC within the Actuarial Portfolio Management (APM) unit, you will use data-driven insights to support pricing decisions, model enhancements, and strategic planning.

You’ll collaborate with global stakeholders and contribute to the development of proprietary costing models, particularly for Fire perils and emerging risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently review and lead complex case pricing transactions, providing actuarial insights to underwriters and cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct quarterly profitability analyses using experience and exposure rating techniques.
  • Develop technical portfolio insights to optimize financial performance and assess sub-portfolio profitability.
  • Perform statistical analysis on diverse data sources to uncover trends and inform pricing strategies.
  • Communicate findings effectively to stakeholders including Portfolio Managers, Reserving Actuaries, and Finance teams.
  • Lead or contribute to actuarial rate review projects and model enhancements for new and existing perils.
  • Build and refine data pipelines and transformation processes for portfolio analytics and model reviews.
  • Support or lead the annual planning cycle with actuarial input and strategic recommendations.

About the Team

Join a global network of actuaries located in Bangalore, Munich, Zurich, Manchester, London, New York, Windsor, and Kansas City. Our team includes both qualified and student actuaries working on Swiss Re CorSo’s largest portfolios.

We are part of the Underwriting Unit and report to the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO). We foster an inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives and innovative thinking.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or numerical discipline.
  • Qualified actuary or qualified by experience or on track to qualification.
  • 5–8+ years of actuarial experience in pricing, ideally in Property or short-tail lines for London Market businesses.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and programming languages such as R, Python, or SQL.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a flair for data.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
  • Open-minded, intellectually curious, and committed to continuous learning.
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a global, multicultural environment.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $86,000 to $156,000. The specific salary offered for this role will take into account a number of factors including job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity, and experience.
