Vice President Actuary (Crop Reserving)

The Opportunity:

The purpose of this role is to oversee and manage the reserving and ECM processes for the Crop business, ensuring accurate and timely output that reflects the risks and exposures of the entity. Additionally, the role involves providing prudent strategic and business planning across the region.

Location: Sun Prairie, WI or Remote, WI

Work Arrangement: Hybrid

The salary range for this role is: $180,500 - $270,500

Your new role:

  • Assist in the overall development and execution of NAU strategy in relation to Reserving control frameworks and services.
  • Establish and maintain a robust Reserving control framework to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships internally with various departments to ensure service delivery meets/exceeds business expectations.
  • Contribute to business and financial performance by continuously monitoring Actuarial positions and taking appropriate action.
  • Ensure financial results are accurate about reserving assumptions/outputs.
  • Lead the generation and analysis of data for reporting to internal and external customers.
  • Manage actuarial reports and provide recommendations on business operations and systems requirements.
  • Support management with stress testing, monitoring risk appetites, and providing insightful commentary.
  • Manage actuarial data and tools for accurate reporting and analysis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in actuarial field and reinsurance industry.
  • Relevant Actuary society certification, such as Fellow-Casualty Actuary Society (FCAS) or Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA).
  • Crop insurance industry experience.
  • Financial analysis and reporting experience.
  • Extensive experience in a financial role.
  • Data analysis and reporting experience.
  • Increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience managing or leading others.
  • Working with senior level staff and regulators.
  • Sound commercial judgment.
  • Substantial experience of managing the Reserving team in a multinational financial services business.

Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate’s professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE’s annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance.
