Description

As a Healthcare Financial/Actuarial Senior Associate, you will be a key member of the Financial Actuarial & Analytics (FAA) Community of Expertise. You will contribute to a variety of complex analyses and projects involving the design, financing, measurement, and financial analysis of employer health and group benefit programs including medical, dental, life, disability, and voluntary benefits.

You will interface with vendors and client service teams, prepare and communicate complex analyses to clients, and ensure quality standards are met. You will have the opportunity to lead financial projects with small-to-midsized clients and work on cutting-edge projects alongside industry leaders.

The Role

  • Play an active support role in multiple client teams developing financial analyses, outputs, and client deliverables across a regional team.
  • Develop working proficiency of core financial, actuarial, and analytics theories, models, and tools.
  • Support accurate and reliable claim reporting and financial modeling to guide client decisions.
  • Develop basic knowledge of all broad-based benefit programs (e.g., health care, pharmacy, wellbeing, life, disability, voluntary benefits).
  • Assist with financial modeling of benefit plan designs, cost avoidance/funding strategies, and budget projections with clear guidance and direction.
  • Take responsibility for execution of specific tasks that contribute to financial/actuarial deliverables for clients, with guidance and adherence to stated deadlines.
  • Partner with Global Delivery Centers and Client Service teams to deliver superior project management.
  • Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in professional services, ideally gained in a benefit consulting/brokerage firm or health underwriting/actuarial function of an insurance company.
  • Advanced knowledge of health and welfare products & services.
  • Experience with big data analytic techniques preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of underwriting and funding concepts.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and produce quality deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Desire and ability to expand relationships with clients.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve issues with limited information and experience.
  • Polished and well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical, creative, and integrative skills.
  • Ability to direct the work of more junior colleagues and provide feedback.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • State Life and Health license required within 90 days of joining.
  • Relevant financial experience and/or university degree.
  • Progress towards completion of health actuarial designation or CEBS designation (optional).

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role, and potential for revenue generation.

Compensation

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $90,000.00 to $130,000.00 USD per year.

This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
