Pricing Modelling Actuary
Job Description
This role sits within a strategic initiative to improve the operational efficiency and robustness of pricing processes and tools. The objective is to automate pricing workflows, enhance the pricing capabilities, and reduce operational risks.
The role will support the development of pricing tools, providing modelling expertise and technical assistance with core development responsibilities.
- Contribute to the management and development of a Python pricing framework including end-to-end pricing calculations and workflow management and a pricing assumptions repository.
- Work with the market pricing teams to support their development and guide local ownership of tools.
- Support local markets with development expertise and education.
- Work closely with IT and other group technical teams to deliver a functional solution for local market pricing teams.
Responsibilities
Duties to fulfil this role include:
- Main contributor to the Python Platform pricing project – a suite of tools for managing locally owned pricing processes.
- Work with specific market pricing teams to implement their pricing processes using the platform, encouraging local ownership.
- Develop, review, and maintain model and process documentation to support the maintenance of the platform and guide the same for local market implementations.
- Collaborate with our IT function to ensure our infrastructure is supportive of pricing solutions.
- Provide timely and informed updates to management.
- Contribute to, and follow, a defined framework and control process for tool development.
- Support other tools’ development, including a best estimate repository and other tools to help pricing actuaries perform their roles with efficiency and accuracy.
- Manage testing of the framework and governance of tools built by local actuaries and the core platform.
- Provide training, support, and guidance to local market teams.
The role will also include participation in cross-reviews for pricing reviews as well as following up on the implementation of the issued recommendations and contributing to the continuous reviews to help reduce the operational risks of the pricing processes, tools, and local governance.
Global Pricing Mandate
All members of the Global Pricing team are expected to further the wider objectives of the team. The mandates of the Global Pricing team are:
- To collect and share pricing expertise.
- Ensure good practices and quality of pricing processes.
- Set appropriate pricing methodology.
- Support wider business acceptance considerations.
- Support framework for assumption derivations and pricing guidelines.
- Facilitate L&H vision and strategy from a pricing perspective.
- Support development of processes to reduce operational risk in pricing.
- Provide expertise and support for large and complex deals.
All team members may be required to assist in above areas from time to time, even where outside of their core responsibilities.
Qualifications
Ideal Experience:
- Strong Python skills.
- Strong life pricing background is preferred.
- Development, testing, and documentation of actuarial tools.
- Building and maintaining good working relationships with teams located both locally and internationally.
- Demonstrated innovation and creativity in proposing new ways of working.
- Qualified actuary.

Required Education
- Experienced in insurance/reinsurance with actuarial and coding development experience.
