Senior P&C Actuary (Hybrid)
About the Role
We are seeking a senior P&C reserving actuary to join our team in conducting quarterly and annual reserve calculations for EMEA market business.
You will work with an actuarial reserving tool, applying various reserving methods to determine appropriate reserves for financial accounts. This includes estimating nominal ultimate claims and their pay-out patterns, as well as analyzing portfolios to identify segments that require specific attention and monitoring.
In this role, you’ll contribute to reporting processes, review costing accuracy, and develop expertise in Motor reinsurance. You’ll also support the transition to IFRS accounting and participate in related reporting activities.
Regular collaboration with Underwriting, Claims, Technical Accounting, Finance, and senior management is expected, fostering strong cross-functional relationships. You’ll also support the line manager in coordinating the Munich team’s quarterly reserving processes.
- Lead or contribute to actuarial projects and systems development
- Provide training and guidance to junior team members to support their actuarial growth
- Ensure all calculations are comprehensive, complete, and clearly communicated
About the Team
The Munich EMEA reserving team is made up of seven actuaries from varied backgrounds. We prioritize teamwork, collaboration, and strong communication skills alongside technical expertise. The team primarily reserves all EMEA Motor treaty business, as well as Property and Accident & Health for the German Branch.
About You
Are you a seasoned, qualified actuary with over five years of experience in reserving or financial reporting within the Insurance or Reinsurance sector? Ideally, you have experience with Motor or other long-tail business lines and knowledge of (re)insurance markets and products.
Key qualifications include:
- A university degree in science or a related field
- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities
- Programming proficiency in R, Python, or similar languages is advantageous
- Fluency in both English and German; additional language skills are considered an asset

For Germany, the base salary range for this position is between EUR 95,000 and EUR 158,000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
- the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
- the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
