About The Role
Do you have career aspirations to be a Pricing Actuary in the commercial General Insurance space? You will develop the product know-how and analytical skills vital to improve the profitability of a global Underwriting portfolio.
The Pricing Actuary is a standout colleague reporting into the Lead Actuary Engineering within the Actuarial Portfolio Management (APM) Unit to execute portfolio goals using data-driven techniques.
You possess strong technical Actuarial skills and business understanding to effectively communicate your analysis findings to global partners. You demonstrate the highest level of behavioral attributes to succeed in a multi-cultural distributed team.
You will use actuarial methods and techniques to develop insights into portfolio trends and set costing parameters for our in-house proprietary Engineering costing models. Your work will directly impact the profitability of your portfolio and the overall Business Unit's performance.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Work independently on complex case pricings for transactions requiring Actuarial reviews and communicate the outcomes effectively to stakeholders, primarily the case Underwriter.
- Carry out quarterly profitability analysis of the portfolio by employing a combination of Actuarial techniques like Experience rating and Exposure rating to evaluate the on-level performance of the book and projections for the future.
- Build technical portfolio insight capabilities to optimize financial performance management and enhance views on profitability of sub-portfolios across lines of business.
- Analyze portfolios and sub-portfolios by slicing and dicing data sources and perform statistical analysis to derive portfolio insights.
- Communicate your results and findings optimally to wider partners including Portfolio Managers, Reserving Actuaries, and Finance Planning & Accounting departments.
- Work on Actuarial rate review projects to update costing parameters of the in-house Swiss Re developed proprietary costing models.
- Work on Actuarial projects to enhance models and develop models for new perils.
- Develop data pipelines, data transformation, and analysis for Portfolio analytics, Model reviews, and other model enhancements.
- Participate in yearly planning exercises and provide Actuarial inputs for the portfolio.

About The Team
We are a global fraternity of Actuaries spread across the globe in locations such as Bangalore, Munich, Zurich, Manchester, London, New York, Windsor, and Kansas City. Our team comprises qualified and student Actuaries who work on the largest portfolio for Swiss Re CorSo. We are part of the Underwriting Unit and report to the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO).

About You
- You have a bachelor's degree in a Quantitative/Numerical subject from a recognized university.
- You are either a qualified Actuary or on track to be one.
- You have practical experience of more than 5 years in an Actuarial position, ideally in commercial pricing.
- You have excellent skills in MS Excel and strong programming skills in R/Python or SQL.
- You have a flair for data and numbers with a high level of numeracy and attention to detail.
- You possess excellent communication skills in English and can convey complex ideas effectively to a wider audience.
- You have an open-minded, intellectually curious approach to everything you do and are likely someone who continually learns from a variety of sources.
- You have strong team skills and enjoy working with people across the globe.
