Our Actuaries are on the front lines, quantifying risk, pricing insurance, and reserving losses for AIG’s major insurance operating companies globally. We collaborate with Finance, Claims, Operations, Marketing, and Risk Management, among other functions. As an AIG actuary, you will be challenged and encouraged to reach your greatest potential to help improve how we predict, manage, and mitigate risk.
How you will create an impact
We are seeking an actuarial professional with industry expertise to provide reserving support for AIG’s Specialty lines of business. Lines of business include Aerospace, Marine, Energy, Construction, and Credit Lines. This key role will be highly visible, as you will have the opportunity to interact with various profit centers, claims departments, and underwriting departments within Specialty.
We are looking for an individual who is internally motivated, intellectually curious, has the ability to manage multiple priorities, and is driven to enhance existing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the analysis of US STAT and GAAP reserve estimates, both gross and net of reinsurance.
- Analyze information to assist in the determination of the adequacy of loss and LAE reserves.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external reporting processes and documentation.
- Assist in the production of key reserving results and analytics to best convey financial results to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with colleagues globally to perform product deep dives on our specialty lines of business.
- Be technically proficient using actuarial techniques/concepts/methodologies to both implement and execute actuarial best practices.
- Support the global actuarial function by building relationships and sharing information in a clear, focused manner while maintaining a positive attitude towards change.
Qualifications:
- BA or BS in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related area.
- 3 or more actuarial exams required.
- 2+ years of actuarial experience in property casualty insurance. Reserving experience preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Effective time management, planning skills, and business acumen.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Excel, Snowflake, Power BI, R required.
- Proficiency in SQL, SAS, Python, or other programming languages preferred.
