The position is part of the Financial Modelling team within the wider Treasury department and reports to the Head of Financial Modelling team Bangalore. We are looking for an Associate Financial Analyst who continuously seeks modelling improvements, takes ownership of multiple IFRS based Financial Plan production processes for the Reinsurance Business Unit, and serves as a credible business partner on all related matters to the wider organization.
About the Role:
The core activities of the analyst will include:
- Ownership of tasks specific to refinement/(re)design, testing, and implementation of IFRS Simulation Model (ISM) used for the creation of IFRS Financial Plan and the Expected Change in SST RBC. This includes performing cash flow validation and analysis of ISM output by benchmarking against Group IFRS Model.
- Perform IFRS Simulation Model (ISM) runs that include refinements to the code and/or scenario runs, validating the results before handing over to key stakeholders.
- Support the relevant refinement/redesign, testing, and implementation of BU Planning tools.
- Operation of IFRS Simulation model used for the construction of IFRS based Financial Plan for various Business Units, leading to the construction of balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statements.
- During the plan production phase, investigate the root cause of various technical queries raised by stakeholders and provide solutions.
- Provide technical support to respective Business Units in understanding various plan-related figures and metrics.
- Collaborate with the Business & Market Units Finance Teams, Underwriting, Reserving, Investment, Funding, Treasury, and other functions to create a complete IFRS based Financial Plan.
- Support and optimize our operational and governance framework to ensure tasks are conducted optimally.
About the Team:
We are the Financial Modelling Team, an integral part of the FP&A Infrastructure, Automation & Costs (FIAC) team within the Treasury Department. We work closely with the Group functions and BU FP&A teams on significant topics related to the IFRS based Financial Plan. We are responsible for spearheading refinements and updates to the IFRS Simulation Model (ISM) and Planning tools to keep the FP&A systems and processes up to date. This includes both the operation and continued improvement of the modelling tools used for IFRS and SST based Financial Planning.
About You:
General:
- Overall, 5-10 years of working experience in quantitative sciences such as actuarial, finance, or risk management functions within (re)insurance.
- Actuarial professionals from acknowledged society with progress on exams.
- Intellectual curiosity with eagerness to improve financial modelling.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
Specific Technical Skills:
- In-depth understanding of the P&C or L&H actuarial modelling.
- Exceptional understanding of financial statements with a specific focus on IFRS 17 (or similar economic framework) as an added advantage.
- Exceptional command of MS Office tools, including advanced skills in Excel and good PowerPoint skills. Firsthand experience in SQL/Python is preferred.

- Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to simplify sophisticated technical concepts into business value-focused language.
