Description:
The NA Majors Casualty team is looking for an Actuary to provide support for one of Liberty Mutual’s largest customers. In this role, you will aid with profit, growth, and operational objectives for the account through pricing, evaluating and monitoring performance, supporting internal stakeholders, and providing consultative support to the customer.
You will build a deep level of knowledge and expertise of the account to provide meaningful actuarial analyses around drivers of loss, impact of business strategy, and other operational changes.
Driving efficiency and improvement in approaches to pricing and tools to enable the team to better understand the risk and support a strong client relationship are also requirements.
The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to execute thoroughly in a collaborative environment.
In this role, you will encounter a variety of responsibilities including collaboration with the customer, internal account team, Reserving, Data Science, Risk Control, Claims, Office of Underwriting, LOB pricing partners, and other subject matter experts.
This position requires a highly organized, self-motivated individual with strong technical as well as verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the account team, providing pricing and other actuarial support aligned with profitability and growth goals.
- Perform complex actuarial analyses to assist business decision making and strategy development.
- Provide clear and concise communication of technical actuarial work to the account team, senior leadership, and the customer.
- Enhance and execute large account pricing methods to supplement technical pricing for the account. Drive continuous improvement of processes.
- Collaborate with Data Science team to influence current model accuracy and applicability as well as drive new innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with Reserving teams to support and influence reserve deep dives.
- Directly influence and engage in quarterly business reviews.
- Support the financial planning process for the account.
- Proactively identify training opportunities; create and deliver content accordingly.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of methods and activities.
- Mentor, motivate, and train less experienced staff and peers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Associateship or Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS/FCAS) or in Society of Actuaries (ASA/FSA) designation preferred or comparable education/designation with relevant experience.
- Minimum 5-7 years relevant experience required.
- Sound knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc.
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and interact effectively with others within and outside the organization.
- Ability to motivate and mentor peers and motivate and train subordinates.
- Advanced computing skills (MS Office Excel, SAS, etc.) with ability to build complex models.
