It provides specialized knowledge and expertise with a focus on systems calculations and policy values for annuity products.The Associate Director will prioritize and coordinate the daily activities performed by the Actuarial Support & Implementation Team and collaborate with the Senior Director of the Actuarial Support Programming Team to ensure alignment.This is a high-performing team of professionals with varying levels of experience with a mathematical and financial focus, actuarial experience, and programming skills.This position assigns and monitors the daily work across a team of actuaries, analysts, and programmers, such as product implementation initiatives, system audits, daily production analysis of complex calculations, and real-time technical support for Operations/Business within Individual Retirement ("IR") Product Management function.Additionally, this position will directly manage a group of Assistant Actuaries from the ADP program, ensuring continuity of production support during rotations.A full-time schedule that requires work through 6:30pm Pacific Time.Primary Responsibilities<ul><li>Leads and provides technical guidance to the Actuarial Support & Implementation Team. Prioritizes the work performed across multiple actuarial support functions, as well as the Actuarial Support Programming Team within IFPM.</li><li>Delivers accurate and timely actuarial support to internal business partners related to policy value calculations, quotes, hypotheticals, and exceptions.</li><li>Serves as the primary actuarial resource to support timely resolution of issues reported via IRG (Issues Resolution Group).</li><li>Supports new product implementations and product enhancements through system testing for Navisys and OASys, illustrations, and other ancillary calculation tools.</li><li>Ensures internal actuarial system audit programs and validation tools are kept up to date, run efficiently, and errors are reported timely.</li><li>Recommends enhancements to reporting, analytics, and processes. Identifies, builds, or executes data and/or analytical solutions to standardize and automate processes.</li></ul>Qualifications/Skills/Candidate Profile<ul><li>Bachelor's degree and FSA/ASA with 7+ years of experience post ASA, preferably with a global bank or insurance company.</li><li>Proficient management, organization, and prioritization skills to coordinate and oversee daily actuarial support activities.</li><li>Solid analytical and problem-solving skills. This position will be highly visible to the Finance organization leadership including CRBG's Controller, Actuarial Controller as well as the Chief Actuary.The Actuarial Controllership Director will be working very closely with the reserving actuaries, reinsurance operations, in addition to the various controllership functions. The Actuarial Controllership Director will be responsible for coordinating control and audit matters with Financial Controls Unit (FCU), Internal Audit Group (IAG) and External Auditors.The Actuarial Controllership Director should possess excellent leadership skills to lead through the significant transformation which the organization, and specifically the reserving actuarial function, is currently going through.The Actuarial Controllership Director will be expected to build up and strengthen the actuarial controllership team with key focus on reporting accuracy, enhanced control environment, improved documentation and process improvement, and automation and simplification.Responsibilities<ul><li>Ensure proper accounting and reporting of future policy benefits by Life and Retirement. Ensure proper reconciliations of inputs into the actuarial calculations and outputs thereof into the general ledger.</li><li>Drive the actuarial reporting requirements, timing and financial impact in advance of filing deadlines.</li><li>Produce high-quality and timely analysis supporting the reserve balances and rollforward of the balances.</li><li>Ensure compliance with US GAAP and US STAT. Implement consistent accounting policies and procedures at an operational level.</li><li>Coordinate documentation and control procedures for the experience studies with reserving actuaries, FCU, IAG and external auditors.</li><li>Ensure accuracy of the actuarial reporting to the Audit Committee.</li><li>Design and ensure operation of internal controls around the loss reserving and reporting processes. Enhance controls documentation and operating effectiveness.</li><li>Document the actuarial management judgments and reserving decisions.</li><li>External disclosures related to reserves and reserving methodologies, including SEC reporting on Form 10-K, 10-Q and any 8-K filings as well as US Statutory reporting.</li><li>Perform GAAP to STAT analysis for future policy benefits.</li><li>Assist in the implementation of the long duration targeted improvements standard.</li><li>Support any new accounting and disclosure standards.</li><li>Support actuarial systems and processes implementations in progress which are part of the Finance and Actuarial Transformation Programs.</li><li>Work closely with reinsurance operations and accounting, OAP, FCU and various other groups on accounting and reporting for significant reinsurance agreements.</li><li>Continually improve processes to reduce cycle time and improve accuracy by measuring key performance indicators for critical processes, establishing processes and eliminating defects, and simplifying and automating where possible.</li><li>Design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
