Job Description:Manages the review of the ALM or Annuity Hedging product. Will be tasked with the first line model validation of annuity and related hedging products.Responsibilities:<ul><li>Leads the preparation and interpretation of actuarial information for presentation to management.</li><li>Monitors profitability by line of business and/or product and develops supporting reports and/or analyses.</li><li>Maintains the product line or Corporate process to comply with various state and federal regulations.</li><li>Manages studies that underlie actuarial assumptions and provides assumptions and data to others.</li><li>May support creation of systems specifications, contracts, commission structures, and other actuarial aspects of product development.</li><li>Monitors and analyzes developments in actuarial techniques, laws and regulations applicable to company operations, and competitive developments in the marketplace. Recommends appropriate reactions to these developments.</li><li>Provides guidance and advice regarding pricing rates, modeling methodology, or reserving and related matters.</li><li>Serves as a key resource for completion of one or more major recurring projects during the course of the year.</li><li>Represents the company on industry and professional committees and/or with regulators.</li><li>May supervise a team of employees.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>FSA or equivalent professional designation along with Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field and 7 years of relevant experience</li><li>In lieu of Bachelor's, will accept Master's in a listed discipline and 5 years of relevant experience.</li><li>In lieu of FSA will accept ASA or equivalent professional designation and 12 years of relevant experience.</li><li>Demonstrates high quality leadership, judgment, organization and prioritization skills.</li><li>Effectively communicates, both verbally and in writing, advanced mathematical and analytical concepts to various audiences.</li><li>Works well under pressure and within time constraints to effectively accomplish individual and team objectives.</li><li>Excellent computer skills.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Programming skills.</li><li>3 years of people managing experience.</li><li>Knowledge of annuity products and hedging.</li></ul>Working Conditions:<ul><li>Limited travel may be required.</li></ul>The US salary for this position generally ranges between $133,000 - $160,000 annually. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications and operational needs. Reporting to the Life Economic Capital Life Lead, you’ll be supporting Aviva’s Internal Model, supporting the team accountable for risk calibrations and providing support for capital requirements methodology more widely.  You will be involved in the review of proposal arising from the Group Actuarial Function team and support the Finance team in implementing the methodology.The role also involves advising key stakeholders and senior management from the Finance teams, the Investment team, the Pricing teams, the Annuity Asset Origination team and Group team as to the capital requirements implications of business activity and emerging methodology. This role would suit a technically minded Actuary who enjoys clearly communicating complexity to a range of stakeholders across the business and beyond.As part of this role, you will need to be comfortable in assessing key information from stakeholders and deciding the relevance and materiality to our capital calibrations. The calibrations we deal with are of a technical actuarial nature and the Internal Model is worth several £bn to Aviva.
