North America Actuarial &amp; Analytics is seeking an analyst who will be responsible for supporting the US Middle Market Underwriting teams. You will work directly with underwriting, product and actuarial to enhance pricing decisions and influence strategy. This position will be focused on providing high quality analyses and effectively communicating key outcomes to support ongoing/prospective strategies for US Middle Market.The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to execute thoroughly in a collaborative environment. Responsibilities:<ul><li>Provide support to actuaries and others by performing analysis to assist business decision making, financial planning, and strategy development.</li><li>Assist in the preparation of actuarial research and complex reports and studies; Communicates and presents findings and exhibits to peers, functional leadership and business leaders.</li><li>Build tools that enhance pricing and influence underwriting strategy.</li><li>Provide clear and concise communication of technical actuarial work to technical and non-technical audiences, and on cross functional teams.</li><li>Retrieves, understands and manipulates data as it relates to assigned and related projects.</li><li>Maintain clear and concise documentation of methods and activities.</li><li>Provide training to underwriters on pricing models, profitability metrics, and other actuarial topics as needed.</li><li>Work with underwriting to provide account level support.</li><li>Collaborate with Casualty and Cross Lines Pricing Teams on tools used by Underwriting.</li><li>Provide guidance and training to less experienced staff.</li><li>Provide actuarial technical assistance and information to other departments.</li><li>Provide recommendations for and assist in the creation and maintenance of actuarial tools.</li><li>Positive progress towards pursuing and passing of required actuarial exams</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Proven math and analytical skills, as normally acquired through the pursuit of a bachelors degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or related field. </li><li>Commitment to achieving Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society. </li><li>Passing grades on a minimum of 5 Casualty Actuarial Exams is required.</li><li>Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience required</li><li>Prior experience and solid knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc.</li><li>Solid oral and written and presentation communication skills and ability to interact effectively within and outside the organization. </li><li>Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.</li><li>Ability to motivate and mentor peers and motivate and train subordinates. </li><li>Ability to exercise discretion, and apply independent judgment and well-developed critical thinking skills in execution of assignments and projects. </li><li>Ability to balance multiple projects with minimal direction. </li><li>Advanced computing skills (MS Office Excel, SAS, etc.); Ability to build models of moderate complexity. </li></ul>Why Liberty Mutual?At Liberty Mutual, our purpose is to help people embrace today and confidently pursue tomorrow.
