Provide data and analytic expertise to support actuarial services including financial reporting, trend analysis, utilization studies, rate development, and claims liability estimates.Key functions include but are not limited to the following:<ul><li>Contribute to the design, construction, and implementation of tools and processes for assessing rate adequacy.</li><li>Assist in the assessment of rate level adequacy for the Company’s various lines of business.</li><li>Develop data sets for analytics and reporting. Participate in predictive modeling efforts and recommend enhancements for analysis and company processes.</li><li>Support the Company’s rating plans, rates, factors, and pricing tools, including providing actuarial support for state filings.</li><li>Contribute to the production and improvement of reports for Corporate and internal customers.</li><li>Assist with loss/loss adjustment expense reserve analysis on a quarterly basis.</li><li>Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, math/statistics, economics, finance, or other related disciplines.</li><li>2+ Casualty Actuarial Exams completed and a commitment to completing the CAS exam process.</li></ul>The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full-time regular employees. We set them.Job Summary:The Actuarial Assistant – Allstate Health Benefits job is responsible for executing projects in support of pricing/reserving insurance business utilizing accepted actuarial and statistical standards, as well as methodologies and knowledge gained through on the job training. This role works closely with management and key business partners to execute appropriate pricing, modeling and product strategies of low to moderate complexity to support business goals.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Uses best practices, with limited coaching, to perform basic to moderately complex analysis, using traditional actuarial, statistical and/or predictive modeling techniques, including proper documentation and evaluation, to provide insights and meet business needs</li><li>Communicates analysis results to management and non-technical users, making recommendations and providing support for assumptions and methodologies</li><li>Manages, and/or contributes on projects that are moderate complexity and are of moderate scale using accepted project management standards, with limited guidance</li><li>With limited coaching, reviews and ensures quality of data used to perform actuarial and statistical services within multiple tools/applications</li><li>Leverages understanding of insurance business, products, markets and regulatory environments in the creation of business strategies and decisions, building expertise within a specialized area</li></ul>Education and Experience:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in related field of study such as actuarial science, math/applied math, statistics/applied statistics</li><li>2-4 years of experience, one or more years of life and health pricing/reserving/modeling experience</li></ul>Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:<ul><li>Must be pursuing actuarial designation</li></ul>Functional Skills:<ul><li>Knowledge in the use and ability to learn a wide variety of tools, data sources and computer applications</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Experience in using and modifying predictive models as well as adapting them to unique situations</li><li>Ability to code in one or more programming languages and manipulate large data sets</li><li>Basic product, price, risk management and insurance regulation knowledge, including professional standards of actuarial/statistical techniques</li><li>Ability to complete multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner, with limited guidance</li><li>Work effectively in a team environment</li></ul>Notes:The preceding description is not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities.
