Actuarial Analyst

Description

The Role

As an Analyst, you will work on projects focused on both life insurance and general insurance industry. You will be performing reserve studies, pricing, and capital management activities.

You will be responsible for data preparation as well as producing and analyzing initial results. You will work closely with a variety of consultants and project managers who will help you increase your insurance knowledge and sharpen your actuarial skills.

You will be a part of WTW’s Prague office, serving Czech clients and acting as the firm’s hub for the whole region (CEEMEA and Western Europe).

  • Contribute to varied and interesting projects such as: Pricing and product valuations; Competitive Market analysis; Reserve valuations; Enterprise Risk Management; Mergers, Acquisitions and Restructuring; Self Insurance and Captives, ML/AI
  • Work collaboratively with other associates and consultants to determine initial data needs, examine obtained client information, and perform any follow-up work required to populate complete data sets
  • Develop a strong understanding of the Life and P&C insurance industry and become familiar with the various steps needed to prepare data for reserving, pricing, and capital management activities
  • Seek and participate in key learning and development opportunities
  • Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels
  • Deliver on projects to meet or exceed client expectations and within deadlines
  • Increase efficiency within client teams by identifying ways to improve processes

Qualifications

The Requirements

  • Academic qualification in the areas of actuarial science, financial risk, mathematics, statistics, or other related discipline
  • Strong analytical and integrative skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Some experience in an insurance, actuarial, or financial environment is preferred
  • Well organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner
  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues; strong client service orientation
  • Interest and ability to think beyond the task at hand and understand how one’s work fits into the broader landscape
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken
  • Well-developed verbal communication skills in Czech, Slovak, or another CEE language
  • Excellent MS Office knowledge, experience with actuarial software
  • Committed to quality; continuously works to achieve the highest quality standards
