Senior Actuary - Reporting & Analysis (12 month FTC)

About the role

This is a 12 month fixed term maternity cover. We are looking for a Senior Actuary (Reporting and Analysis) to lead the delivery of actuarial aspects of business planning and to prepare management information. As the Senior Actuary you will lead the delivery of relevant actuarial input to the risk function for the production of the Group ORSA and run-off plans.

You will lead the design, maintenance, building and testing of projection systems and processes required for base projections, stresses and scenarios. You will support the delivery of the Group’s actuarial reporting requirements for Solvency II and IFRS.

Responsibilities

  • Production of the monthly GEC and Board MI packs.
  • Production of the other key performance measurement deliverables (LTM backing ratio reports, Business Assessment dashboard, Sales Flash report and Retail SMT MI pages).
  • Production of the financial information required to support the production of the Business Plan, Recovery Plan, forecasts and necessary inputs into External Financial and Regulatory Reporting.
  • Production of input to the risk function to support the production of the Group ORSA and run-off plans.
  • Production of actuarial information required to support the Group’s internal and external reporting of SII.
  • To support the development of responses to requests from UK regulators and other third parties.
  • To ensure timely testing of the tools developed for projections and projections scenarios.
  • To develop and improve the processes & controls used for team deliveries.
  • To represent the team and provide actuarial expertise to define actuarial requirements on projects and other change programme initiatives.
  • To operate a robust control framework for the production of results including maintaining appropriate documentation and compliance with relevant requirements (including TASs).

Skills and Experience

  • Qualified actuary
  • Knowledge of insurance products and markets, including UK reporting regulations
  • Experience of an actuarial reporting function, ideally with experience of annuities and LTM
  • Good problem analysis and resolution skills
  • Good verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner
  • Leadership and influencing skills
  • Able to manage smaller defined projects with other stakeholders in the company
  • Able to assess materiality of issues and determine appropriate course of action
  • Strong communication skills with ability to convey complex concepts to team management
