Make your mark in Actuarial

Our Actuaries are on the front lines, quantifying risk, pricing insurance and reserving losses for AIG’s major insurance operating companies, globally. We collaborate with Finance, Claims, Operations, Marketing and Risk Management, among other functions. As an AIG actuary, you will be challenged and encouraged to reach your greatest potential to help improve how we predict, manage and mitigate risk.

How you will create an impact

This is a newly created high-profile role where you will make a key contribution to our performance in Actuarial by taking ownership of the reporting & analytics. You will perform holistic analytics of the reserving, build meaningful insights, use the latest technologies to drive automation, and you will have the opportunity to look what is being done currently and implement new and better ways of doing things.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the Actuarial business in the timely and accurate delivery of Reserve results for two AIG legal entities (AIG UK and AIG Europe)
  • Assist in production of key reserving results and analytics to key stakeholders
  • Design and implement improvements for the end to end reserving process
  • Drive operational efficiency through the team by identifying and automating processes or making processes more efficient
  • Provide training where necessary to Actuarial team on coding of process, validation scripts, etc
  • Support and build analytical tools for the reserving team
  • Support the various reporting requirements from the reserving team (Auditors, reserving committees
  • Help to co-ordinate the integration of local reserving process with group reserving initiatives
  • Assist with the documentation of processes for controls purposes (including SOX)
  • Assist with the wider actuarial team on reserving activities as and when required.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Numerical degree
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Student member of an Actuarial Institute with proven proficiency in actuarial concepts/methodologies
  • Expertise in Excel, SQL and VBA – R or other programming languages desirable
  • Experience in Power BI or other data visualisation tools desirable
  • Meticulous in your approach with the ability to deep dive into the data to trace what’s driving unexpected trends in reports
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to take ownership of a piece of work and work it to resolution with minimal guidance
