Actuarial Internship (Pricing)

Internship - Actuarial Pricing

American National Insurance Company was founded in 1905 and is headquartered in Galveston, TX, with several locations across the US: League City, TX, Houston, TX, Springfield, MO, and Glenmont, NY. Our Internship Program is designed to provide young professionals with corporate experience that is not offered in the classroom.

In addition to supporting their respective department, each intern will have the opportunity to attend professional development sessions, volunteer within the community, and attend company sponsored social events. Our 2024 summer internship program begins on Monday, June 3 and ends on Friday, August 9. Intern positions are paid hourly with a full-time schedule (Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week) for the entirety of the program.

Internship Program Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited institution
  • Must hold a Junior standing or higher (May 2024 grads are welcome)
  • Must possess a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must be able to commit 37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday
  • Must be able to work onsite in the posted location of the role

Internship Department: Location: Albany NY or Springfield, MO

What we're looking for:

  • Pursuing a degree in a Math, Actuarial Science or STEM related field
  • Sat for Exam FM or Exam P
  • Have completed a class in Excel, SQL, R or Python
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and balance changing priorities

What you can expect to do in the role:

  • Help with initial set up of SFP state pricing reviews including kickoff documents, factor files and inforce data pulls.
  • Ad hoc projects for other commercial lines of business as needed.
  • Indications process improvements, including Country Estate

Skills you can expect to improve and/or develop:

  • Excel, R, Access, SQL
  • Professional communication, collaboration, and business etiquette
  • Corporate Communication Skills
