As a Strategy Manager you will be the day-to-day lead on strategy engagements with our clients. While no two projects are the same, you will typically manage a team of analysts or consultants with support from senior colleagues as needed. You’ll play a vital hands-on role in designing the analysis approach, distilling insights and constructing strategic recommendations.

At times this will include being the bridge from strategy into delivery, and we particularly welcome applications from candidates with experience in digital delivery and data science, alongside core strategy skills.

The nature of the work we do includes:

  • Strategic options analysis and evaluation: working with clients to understand and define strategic choices ahead of key investment decisions
  • Market analysis: traditional evidence-led analysis to identify market development opportunities to support client strategies
  • Developing strategic business models: determining the optimum business or commercial model to effectively deliver client objectives
  • Capability building: helping our clients configure effectively and develop their ability to deliver operational excellence in specific areas
  • Stimulating innovation: identifying new ways of working that will stimulate innovation and growth, and lead to better decision-making
  • Digital transformation: guiding and supporting clients through imagining, defining and delivering their digital journey to enable competitive advantage

The team: The role sits within the Pensions and Life Insurance practice, part of Deloitte's Insurance Strategy Consulting team. You will join and learn from several other experienced Strategy Managers with expertise across customer and adviser strategy, wealth management, financial planning and taking new products to market. You’ll also benefit from being part of the wider Insurance Strategy community. Beyond the Strategy team, you will build a network with Pensions and Life experts across Deloitte, in digital, marketing, M&A and operations consulting lines.

Responsibilities: As a Strategy Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Independently leading engagements from scoping through delivery
  • Leading execution of rigorous and insightful analysis to build an evidence base to support strategy development and change
  • Mastery of strategy tools and frameworks to solve client problems, and sharing best practice within the team
  • Managing and mentoring junior colleagues to ensure successful project delivery
  • Working closely with clients and internal stakeholders, taking the lead in developing strong professional relationships and liaising with teams to deliver a seamless client experience
  • Proactively developing your own skills, seeking feedback, building knowledge, and sharing your insight with colleagues
  • Taking a leadership role in the management of the practice and business development with clients

We are looking for people who enjoy addressing complex problems in an analytical manner, with a proven record of delivery in a project environment and a strong background in the Life & Pensions sector. We particularly welcome applications from those with experience working closely with technology, digital and data teams.

Essential:

  • Experience of leading strategy development in one of the following environments:
    • Management or strategy consultancy
    • Corporate strategy development within industry (e.g. pensions provider, adviser platform, insurance provider)
    • Proposition strategy development within industry (e.g. product owner, proposition architect)
  • In a project-based or client-facing environment
  • Trends, and drivers of change
  • Flexibility to travel

Desirable:

  • Or experience of working in agile development
  • (completed or in progress) e.g. MBA, CFA, CIMA, CISI, CII etc
