About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Actuary to join our Actuarial Function at NFU Mutual. You’ll be part of a team of Actuarial experts who carry out risk-focused second line assurance across our Life and General Insurance business. The role brings people management and a great opportunity to share knowledge and help develop technical skills of your team.
You will provide analysis and insight on risk topics to our senior stakeholders, helping them apply sound judgement and understand complex problems. As you build relationships with stakeholders across the business, you’ll gain experience of validating actuarial models and will apply your technical knowledge to make recommendations that inform business decision making. You will also be an effective team leader and people manage. A great opportunity to share knowledge and help develop technical skills of your team.
You’ll be a part of a supportive team and focused team with the role being very varied. You’ll use a wide range of methods to build your knowledge and you’ll have a passion for Actuarial.
This role is based in our Tiddington Head Office, just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon. However, we understand how important a positive work-life balance is, so to help you give your best, we offer great facilities when you want to be in an office environment and support to work up to 80% of your hours from home.
About you
You will have good interpersonal skills, passion, energy and a problem-solving demeanour and be delivery oriented. You will also have an enthusiasm for general insurance and actuarial techniques. You will be a great leader, sharing your technical knowledge and be undertake line management responsibilities, with the ability to develop your team.
To join our team, you must also have:
- 2:1 degree with strong mathematical content or equivalent.
- Fellow of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries or equivalent.
- Proven and substantial life insurance experience including strong technical knowledge of actuarial techniques for life insurance and with-profits.
- Demonstrable experience in leading a team.
- Proven experience of report writing (at Board or Committee level) and working to strict timelines
