Valuation Actuary
As a key member of the Life & Health Reserving team, your role will be focused on valuation under IFRS/SII/C-GAAP and projects support. This will include support the preparation the quarterly IFRS/SII/C-GAAP reporting results and provide support retrocession treaty arrangement exploration and estimate figures.
You will have the opportunity to liaise with colleagues across the SCOR group, explaining the results to our stakeholders. You will also have the opportunity to participate in strategic projects.
The APAC Actuarial team is based in SCOR’s offices in Singapore, Sydney, Beijing and Seoul, and covers both Life & Health and Property & Casualty business. This includes business written in c.30 countries and 12 legal entities in the region. We are a diverse and engaged team, providing expert actuarial analysis and insight for our stakeholders. The department is lead by the Chief Reserving Actuary for Asia Pacific.
Responsibilities
- Play as the key role in the IFRS&SII& C-GAAP valuation including methodology, model enhancement, quarterly reporting, and documentations preparation.
- Monitor valuation regulation revolutions and support potential solution design.
- Support retrocessiontreaty arrangement exploration and estimate figures.
- Actively support the financial analysis to identify the key risks and movements of both business performance and operations.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Support various financial and valuation projects if any.
Relationships
- Liaise with local Technical Accounting team, central project team based in Singapore and home office.
- Work closely with other teams within APAC, including the L&H business unit, other colleagues in the wider Finance team, Pricing, and Risk management, to share common knowledge and common purpose.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of working in the life insurance industry in China
- Strong experience in financial reporting and valuation at a reinsurer/ direct insurer/ consulting firm
- Background with valuation, actuarial consultant, IFRS/C-GAAP/C-ROSS, life reinsurance, Prophet Modelling is preferred
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-motivated and dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Experience of reviewing others work and managing tasks independently
- Creates a supportive environment – both when coaching junior members within the team and when working with other teams and colleagues
- Interest in career and skill development
Required Education
- University education in quantitative subject, and bachelor is preferred
- ASA or equivalent is preferred for valuation actuary.
