Senior Experience Analysis Actuary

Part of the global Business Analytics team, your role is to maintain and enhance APEX, SCOR’s global Experience Analysis solution for Life & Health risks and support local users in the modelling of biometric risks and via the sharing of best practices to derive and set mortality and morbidity rates.

You support the transition of new teams to APEX via trainings, sharing and searching for use cases and you assure the continued improvement of APEX with value-adding and user-friendly functionalities.

You provide support to local markets in the assessment of biometric risks by analysing general statistical or insurance data and support the development of scientific methods to estimate these risks.

Part of a global community you actively share your expertise and help spread the risk knowledge both internally and externally via the dissemination of best practices amongst SCOR Global Life clients, trainings, seminars and publications.

In line with SCOR’s strategic plan you support local markets in their data initiatives, promoting new types of services to local teams and support their development with best practices and best-in-class tools. Among others you support the use of modern data visualization tools (Tableau).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance the inhouse experience analysis tool Apex
    • Have a strong relationship with the local markets (support + identify needs)
    • Support python developers
    • Specify business needs for development team and test implementations
  • Onboarding of markets / teams to Apex
    • Identify needs and support with first experience analysis studies
    • Actively identify and share possible Apex use cases
    • Train Apex users
    • Be an active member in the experience analysis community
  • Dashboarding / Visualisation:
    • Be an active member in the Tableau /Visualisation Community
    • Support markets in (Tableau) visualisations and share best practices
  • Support full experience analysis process from data acquisition to result analytics
    • Enhance post-analytics tools for example via our in-house R-based modelling app
    • Explore (in house) data preparation tools and support / train end users

Qualifications

  • You are a confident individual with strong team player qualities and communication skills
  • You apply your strong analytical skills to find efficient and practical solutions in a business context
  • Experienced with statistical, experience analysis and/or actuarial methods
  • Having derived mortality or morbidity rates and having build best estimate rates with modern actuarial methods
  • Programming skills ideally in R and / or Python
  • You are organized, efficient and autonomous, keen to take responsibility for your projects
  • You are attracted by an international work context and relationships with various local and functional teams of SGL
  • You are someone who enjoys innovating and learning new technologies
  • You are an actuary with extensive proven experience in life and health insurance and biometric risks with >= 5 years of experience
  • You will manage students
  • You are fluent in English; French is a plus.
  • Strong visualisations skills (Tableau) are a plus or willingness to develop them

Required Education

  • University degree/Master degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, equivalent other scientific discipline, or finance qualification
  • Membership in actuarial association/qualified as an actuary
