Senior Actuarial Analyst (Corporate P&C)

About the role

You will be a part of the Global Actuarial team working towards IFRS 17 implementation in Swiss Re. You will have ample opportunity to apply your technical actuarial, modelling and data analytics skills across a variety of activities outlined below. You will work in collaboration with Reserving actuaries across the globe. In this role, you will actively liaise with Finance colleagues and Appointed Actuaries on IFRS 17.

IFRS 17 is a paradigm shift for insurance accounting and reporting, with impact across Actuarial, Finance and IT functions. With this new standard there will be closer collaboration between Actuaries and Finance, and within the industry, Swiss Re is one of the few companies pioneering the implementation.

The job responsibilities include the following:

  • Filling in gaps and upskilling Regional Actuaries with knowledge on IFRS17.
  • Coordinating and working with Regional Actuaries and Finance in IFRS17 implementation.
  • Assist in formulating implementation plans and management of such plans.
  • Precise and timely completion of implementation tasks within the plan.
  • Active liaison with the core policy team to resolve policy questions and local implementation issues.
  • Support actuarial planning at a Legal Entity/ Regional level.
  • Provide training and support for systems and calculation engines where local actuaries are completing tasks.
  • Support Regional Actuaries and Finance with ad-hoc queries and requests.
  • Assist local entities with regulatory requests such as quantitative impact studies.
  • Prepare written documentation and presentations on the results of technical analysis.
  • Provide support in documenting current processes and new IFRS requirements.

About the Team

The IFRS17 Actuarial Implementation team is part of the Bangalore P&C Reserving Hub and falls under the Global Actuarial P&C Re function.

About you

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Physics or equivalent field
  • 4+ years of experience in the P&C actuarial domain
  • Actively working towards the attainment of an actuarial qualification
  • Experience in statutory reporting for P&C branch entities
  • Practical experience in insurance accounting (USG, IFRS4, Other)
  • Excellent knowledge of insurance accounting principles
  • Ability to work independently and accurately, with attention to detail and timely delivery
  • Strong data organization, analytical, modelling, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, desire for learning new concepts
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and results in a clear and detailed manner
