Actuarial Analyst (Special Risks)

About the role

This position covers two main responsibilities.

You will be contributing to data analytic projects as data analyst - with the ambition of becoming a data driven company, Department of Facultative EMEA is using the technology to enable underwriting teams to use data in the daily business. As the data analyst you would bring technical skills to the teams with business expertise.

You will also be an actuarial support - This position is placed in an underwriting team. You would work in this position with Actuaries, underwriters and client managers. You would support the team with your actuarial skills to steer the portfolio and achieve costing accuracy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as technology lead by partnering with various technology teams to build and drive sustainable analytics solutions.
  • Managing the data flow by building and updating data pipelines and gain automation when it is possible.
  • Build and maintain continuous improvement of existing analytic capabilities and underlying data sources.
  • Supporting the deal teams for pricing reinsurance contracts on various line of businesses and participate in actuarial discussion with the clients.
  • Contribute to performance review of the in-force business and to updating the benchmark models and parameters.

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated, technically strong Actuary to complement our team, covering markets mainly in EMEA but also on other continents.

Our new colleague should be able to prioritize and apply sound commercial judgment, should be a pragmatic, solution- and results oriented personality and be a great teammate and at the same time able to work independently. Take ownership for making decisions and help others out where and when vital, comfortable with working in an entrepreneurial environment.

Essentials:

  • Quantitative background with a completed university degree in a quantitative field like mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, etc.
  • Previous experiences in an actuarial role, ideally in P&C pricing or reserving
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python or similar and comfortable learning and working with new software
  • Experience with data warehouse and data analytics tools and experience with Palantir Foundry is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, any additional language is an advantage

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in primary insurance and personal lines product development
  • Experience in statistical modelling and data analytics
