Corporate Actuarial Analyst
Position objectives and position summary
- Part of Canada L&H Business Management team in quarterly valuation and Reporting
- Self-motivated and ability to co-ordinate with the teams in Bangalore and Toronto
- Taking ownership of the tasks assigned and deliver the results conforming to the standards set by the unit
- Pro-actively engaging with the team to improvise the existing processes.
- Ability to deliver within defined timelines, and confidently express own viewpoints and communicates issues clearly within the team
Main tasks/activities/responsibilities
Working on Valuation & Reporting processes and associated changes, incorporating changes in actuarial valuation systems, producing the reserves for various kind of business requirements and all Valuation bases, applying technical skills to reconcile and analyze the output, supporting new initiatives driven by business unit requirement.
Main responsibilities include the following:
- Involvement in Quarterly Production and Reporting processes with the Bangalore team and discuss the results and issues with Canada team
- Preparation of Change of Basis (COB), FMS Assumptions files and CRR systems (Swiss Re systems & tools) to produce reserves for various lines of business and reconcile numbers with different interfaces
- Load actuarial inputs into ADAM and review of valuation results, perform ADAM Routines and CRR processing and ensure that results look reasonable along with the preparation of Actuarial controls and acquire relevant signoff
- Perform Valuation and IFRS17 based data checks and reconciliations of results with downstream systems and ensure to raise issues in due time and get them to a closure and validations for all Quarterly Valuation Production delivery
- To prepare vital controls, dashboards related to production work, financial statements, reports, and exposures for internal & external reporting in a timely manner
- To actively support yearly sensitivities (EVM, MPS, Mortality etc.) and any ad-hoc deliverables as per business requirements
- To support on UAT changes, VRA initiatives and other system testing
- Facilitate sign-off of final work product by the Bangalore team within agreed upon confidence levels
- To systematically log, communicate and manage issues found until they have been resolved. This will involve cross-cultural coordination and cooperation across regions and Central teams.
- Detailing system and process related changes on regular basis
- Simplification of work process through automation to bring in process efficiency
Job requirements
- Strong data organization and analysis skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Should be able to partner with team sitting in Toronto given time differences
- Good team player
- Strong learning motive with steady progress in Actuarial Exams
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Proficiency in working with Spreadsheet and Database packages
- 0 to 1+ years of experience
