Senior Actuarial Analyst

We have an exciting opportunity for a part-qualified Senior Actuarial Analyst to join the Commercial Actuarial team at NFU Mutual, where you’ll use your actuarial skills to turn analytical insights into value-adding BAU and ad hoc activity.

You’ll be part of a supportive team that’s responsible for ensuring the life and pensions business we sell helps the company achieve sustainable, profitable growth and ensuring the charges are right for our customers so that we are a great company to do business with.

You’ll use your actuarial skills and Prophet knowledge to analyse the business sold and ensure that it meets our profitability requirements. You’ll liaise with colleagues across the business to understand what changes could impact our profitability and you’ll keep up to date with developments across the industry to stay ahead of upcoming challenges. You’ll use financial knowledge and skills to analyse complex data problems and provide detailed knowledge and insight to teams across the business, including by producing value-adding MI to senior management. You’ll use your actuarial judgement to determine the assumptions that will underlie our business planning process.

This role is based in our Tiddington Head Office, just outside Stratford-upon-Avon. We understand how important a positive work-life balance is to you, so we offer great facilities when you want to be in an office environment, and support to work some of your hours from home.

About you

You’re an actuarial professional with experience in financial services and a sound understanding of the life and pensions industry. A friendly team player, you readily face challenges head-on and show resilience in a fast-paced environment. To join our team, you must also have:

  • Experience as an Actuary or Actuarial Consultant in the life and pensions sector.
  • Experience and understanding of actuarial techniques and ability to demonstrate judgement.
  • A recognised full or part actuarial qualification, such as Actuarial Fellowship or Certified Actuarial Analyst.
  • An honours degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics or a degree with significant mathematical or science content (preferable).
