Portfolio Manager Actuary
About the team
The Portfolio Management Unit focusses on maintaining the in-force portfolio in a healthy state and supports Swiss Re's Life & Health business growth objectives in a sustainable manner. The team is responsible for the identification, execution and monitoring of management actions on the in-force portfolio aimed at bringing value in terms of profit, efficiency, control and benefit for our clients. That includes, for instance, ensuring a full business feedback loop by sharing insights gained from the in-force business so that they can be incorporated in our new business risk-taking activities.

About the Role
- Carry out proactive monitoring of the Life & Health in-force portfolio and management actions, including in-force reinsurance premium rate reviews and recaptures.
- Use data analytics and visualizations to communicate the performance of the Life & Health portfolio, highlighting areas of concern and insights that can steer our L&H strategy and enable proactive management of the inforce.
- Contribute to strategic projects with partners from across the Life & Health Reinsurance community.
- Analyse and interpret financial results, under the various valuation methods used within Swiss Re.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal partners and clients on activities related to the in-force portfolio.
- Be part of a culturally diverse team working in a dynamic environment.
About You
- A part qualified or newly qualified Actuary with an inquisitive, pragmatic and commercial nature.
- Working experience of 3-6 years in the insurance / reinsurance market.
- Strong understanding of market consistent valuation methods as well as USGAAP and a knowledge of IFRS17 (nice to have)
- Experience analysing data or interpreting financial results to formulate tangible actions.
- Strong analytical mindset with a passion for leveraging data and technology to steer business decisions. Experience with R, Power BI or any other data analytics tools would be an asset.
- Flair for creativity and problem solving.
- An independent and critical thinker with good negotiation skills and an ability to constructively challenge.
- Ability to engage and build positive relationships with various internal and external functions across the region.
- Excellent command of English. Knowledge of other European languages would be an asset
