Senior IFRS Actuary

We are looking for a hardworking and motivated individual to join the L&H IFRS Team in Global (Re)Insurance A&R. This role offers the opportunity for a senior qualified actuary to gain hands-on experience with IFRS 17 and be part of the FPSL and Prophet implementation which will shape the future financial accounting and reporting operating model!

About the team

The Global (Re)Insurance Accounting & Reporting Life and Health team in Group Finance has global ownership of L&H sub-ledger related accounting and closing activities covering all valuation bases (i.e. US GAAP, IFRS 17, EVM and Statutory). In addition, the team is also responsible for ensuring Economic Value Management (EVM) reporting quality and consistency by providing second line review of the quarterly EVM valuation figures submitted by the L&H Business Management valuation actuaries.

We are a high-performing team with varied strengths of ca. 50 team members primarily located in Bangalore, Bratislava and Zurich. We work in a friendly, collaborative and lively team environment.

About the role

As a Senior IFRS Actuary working on IFRS, you will work with a multidisciplinary team consisting of Accounting and Actuarial Business Experts, Information Architect, Business Analysts and Developers. The team will be responsible for controlling baseline the best estimate cashflows as well as production of derived cashflows, including design, testing and implementation of an efficient and effective production environment. You will take a lead role in the Group comparative process. You will decide and act with a degree of autonomy in practice areas with the delegated authorities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Key player in the end-to-end integration testing in the new FPSL environment for IFRS 17 implementation
  • Key contributor to IFRS 17 Group comparative initially and subsequently, key player in the quarterly IFRS 17 production
  • Work closely with other functions, including Business Management Actuarial, Group EVM, FP&A, Regional Finance, IT, etc.

About You

  • Fully qualified actuary (e.g. FSA, FIA, DAV, SAV) with 10+ years of experience of which more than 5 years post qualification
  • Understanding of and experience working with IFRS in an (re)insurance setting
  • Data management and good programming skills (Python, VBA, R).
  • Experience working with Prophet highly desired
  • Previous experience working in actuarial / finance / IT projects advantageous
  • Previous experience working in reinsurance a plus
  • Analytical mindset – strong quantitative skills with the ability to think independently
  • Strong communication skills
  • Teamwork – ability to work with a multidisciplinary team across locations
  • Flexibility – capable of managing own workload and provide flexibility during peak periods
  • Ability to develop and cultivate relationships with global business partners
  • Willingness to acquire necessary system and technical knowledge
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral
