Actuarial Valuation Intern
About the Role:
This role is a key contributor to the development and implementation of processes for the upcoming International Financial Reporting Standard ("IFRS") 17 accounting standards for the Asia business. This role is expected to work closely with the actuarial support team in Singapore and Malaysia IFRS 17 squads, for the implementation of IFRS 17 local and group comparatives for several legal entities in Asia.
The roles and responsibilities include:
- Perform reconciliation check on baseline cash flows between two systems
- Review and prepare manual adjustments on the baseline cash flows
- Enhance and standardize existing working files to increase work efficiency and accuracy
- Review IFRS 17 related calculations in system and perform analysis on IFRS 17 financials
- Communicate the issues/challenges with senior actuaries or stakeholders on time
- Provide actuarial support to Finance colleagues in the Singapore and Malaysia squads for actuarial related queries
About the Team:
The L&H Valuation Asia is responsible for actuarial valuation, reporting and analysis for all reinsurance business written in Asia. The L&H Valuation Asia function resides within the L&H Reinsurance Risk Management division.
About You:
- An undergraduate majoring in Actuarial Science or its equivalent;
- Direct experience with VBA, Power BI, Python, R, would be considered an advantage;
- Past internship experience in actuarial function would be considered an advantage;
- Responsible; Strong technical and analytical skills; Driven; Detailed oriented; Resourceful; A challenge seeker; Good interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to work together and effectively with different functional team members of varied backgrounds;
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- The internship duration will be a minimum of 1.5 to 2 months (beginning May/June)
