About the team

L&H Business Management has a major impact on the strength and performance of Swiss Re's reinsurance business by actively handling the in-force L&H portfolio. The division comprises Actuarial Management, Claims Management, Technical Accounting and Portfolio Management.

The EMEA Portfolio Management Unit focusses on maintaining the in-force portfolio in a healthy state and supports Swiss Re's L&H business growth objectives in a sustainable manner. The team is responsible for the identification, execution and monitoring of management actions on the in-force portfolio aimed at bringing value in terms of profit, efficiency, control and benefit for our clients. That includes, for instance, ensuring a full business feedback loop by sharing insights gained from the in-force business so that they can be incorporated in our new business risk-taking activities.

About the Role

  • Be the portfolio owner for L&H inforce business for specific markets in EMEA, working with a high level of autonomy and ownership
  • Act as the key point of contact for internal partners and clients, with accountability for delivering key strategic priorities
  • Carry out proactive monitoring of the L&H inforce portfolio and be responsible for the execution of management actions, including inforce rate reviews and recaptures
  • In partnership with other BM EMEA functions, use data analytics and visualizations to communicate the performance of the L&H portfolio, highlighting areas of concern and insights that can steer our L&H strategy and enable proactive management of the inforce
  • Participate in strategic projects with partners from across L&H
  • Analyze and interpret financial results, using market consistent valuation methods
  • Be part of a culturally diverse team working in a dynamic environment

About You

  • Working experience of 3-6 years in either of the following industries, and preferably within L&H: insurance/ reinsurance/ finance accounting/ finance or insurance consulting/ actuarial management
  • Financial competence with knowledge of accounting standards (e.g., IFRS17)
  • Strong analytical mindset with a passion for data and technology and experience with Stargate or Power BI or any other data analytics tools
  • Excellent command of English. Knowledge of French, Italian, Dutch or other European languages would be an asset
  • Flair for creativity and problem solving
  • Project management skills with experience in driving regional or global initiatives
  • An independent and critical thinker with good negotiation skills and an ability to challenge existing processes and views
  • Ability to engage and build positive relationships with various internal and external functions across region
