P&C Senior Actuarial Analyst

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst to support the Appointed Actuary in the following responsibilities:

  • Quarterly and annual Canadian statutory reserving, US GAAP reserving, Financial Condition Testing, and Economic Value Management (EVM)
  • Transition to IFRS 17, initially for the Canadian Branches, and then subsequently on a regional basis, working closely with local and global project teams and across Finance, Actuarial Management and IT

About the Team

This position will report to the P&C Appointed Actuary based in Toronto, Canada. The P&C Actuarial Management team comprises of four people in Toronto. We are responsible for all the corporate actuarial requirements of Swiss Reinsurance Canada Ltd, Canadian Branch and Westport Insurance Corporation, Canadian Branch (collectively the " Canadian Branches").

About You

  • University degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics
  • 2-4 years of experience in actuarial valuation and/or pricing of P&C (re)insurance attained from an (re)insurer or consulting
  • Ability to pick up new concepts and systems quickly
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Experience in programming languages (VBA, R, Python) or visualization programs (Power BI, Tableau) will be an asset;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - love to work with cross functional teams and local/overseas stakeholders such as finance, claims, underwriters, actuaries.

We would like you to have made good progress in the Casualty Actuarial of Society examinations.
