We now have a great opportunity for an Actuarial Analyst on a 1 year fixed term contract, to join our Finance department here at NFU Mutual. This opportunity is ideal for a University student who is currently doing an Actuarial Science or Mathematical subject and wants to do a year placement as part of their degree or wanting to take a year out to gain first-hand experience.

You’ll be able to gain experience of actuarial work in practice, covering a variety of tasks and the chance to meet and understand the work of other teams in the department. The main purpose of the role is to assist in the preparation and interpretation of complex data as part of Actuarial investigations, essentially to undertake project work.

You’ll gain experience in assisting in the delivery of short term/one off projects and the opportunity to identify improvements about data analysis techniques. Through the support of the team you will collect, check, and analyse data to allow it to be used in actuarial calculations. Investigate anomalies and recommend amendments as part of the data cleansing process

About you

As an Actuarial Analyst, you'll have a genuine passion and career aspiration to work in the Actuarial field. You will have an inquisitive mindset and be a good problem solver- as well as being particularly good with numbers. You will also be or have:

  • Good standard of academics, including relevant degree or working towards
  • Good experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Able to communicate clearly & confidently with all level of stakeholder
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy, and able to multi-task
  • The ability to simplify complex information
