Senior Actuarial Analyst (Protection)

Your Tasks
The Senior Actuarial Analyst generates new Protection business for the branch achieving required profitability hurdles. Managing the lifecycle for both existing and new Protection treaties, they ensure all appropriate action is taken in a timely manner as well as owning the day-to-day client management responsibilities for our smaller clients.
- Contribute effectively to the development of Protection reinsurance solutions and services, considering client demands in a changing market
- Contribute to the relationship management of Protection clients, assisting senior members or the team, and taking responsibility for day-to-day contact with clients
- Price protection treaties accurately within agreed deadlines, ensuring all relevant guidelines are followed and departments liase accordingly. This includes:
- Analysing experience data
- Researching the product being priced, ensuring suitable information has been obtained from the client
- Deriving the pricing basis
- Calculating reinsurance rates
- Completing all supporting documentation to obtain the necessary sign-offs
- Producing tender response documents
- Ensure ‘treaty underwriter’ responsibilities are carried out for allocated treaties such as onboarding, performance monitoring and updating key internal systems
- Contribute to the external visibility programme for Protection BD including client events, seminars, industry events, industry working groups and writing articles
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of the industry with a focus on how developments impact the Branch and its clients - transfer this knowledge throughout the Branch as required
- Identify and enhance both quality and value of processes for the department
- Adhere to all local and group guidelines
- Support all other functional activities as required
Your Profile
- Expertise in pricing protection business
- Use of actuarial modelling software, including model development and improvement
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a demonstrable ability to deliver engaging presentations
- Strong project management skills
- Enthusiasm for innovating and driving the protection market forwards
- Good degree in a mathematical subject
- Track record of strong progress towards qualifying as an actuary
