Actuarial Analyst

The Milliman Shanghai office provides consulting services to a broad array of clients in the Property & Casualty and Health fields. We are looking for a junior-level actuarial analyst or fresh graduate.

This position provides excellent opportunities for professional development and advancement. This position is open not only to candidates with an actuarial degree, but also to those with a degree with a high quantitative and analytical content (e.g. mathematics, statistics, operational research, risk management, engineering, etc). The candidate should have excellent analytical, communication, time management and organizational skills. We provide extensive on-the-job training in consulting skills and advanced actuarial techniques.

Job Responsibilities

  • Data preparation and analysis for the actuarial reserving works
  • Actuarial assistance to the development of new products and premium rates as well as the risk profile analysis
  • Actuarial support for due diligence and appraisal value for mergers and acquisitions of heath and non-life insurance companies
  • Client interaction including data collection, project updates and follow-ups
  • Creative problem-solving using spreadsheets, databases, and other resources to synthesize and analyze data and information
  • Presenting results to peers, project managers, and client relationship managers
  • Drafting written reports and preparing other external/internal correspondence
  • Preparing and documenting project files
  • Assisting with research and marketing projects

What we're looking for

  • Fresh graduates or 1-2 years’ experience in health and non-life actuarial position, with Bachelor degree or above in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related field
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and database applications (Microsoft Office products)
  • R, SQL, SAS knowledge a plus
  • Proficiency in English and Chinese Mandarin
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong communication (written and oral), and organizational skills
  • Client-focused, results-driven, and detail-oriented
  • Strong time management skills
  • Self-motivated and creative problem solver
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
