Pricing Actuary (Specialty)

Strong commercial role supporting the production of pricing analytics including contract pricing, portfolio analysis, management reporting and streamlining of processes. Ability to work and think independently is essential to succeed in this role. Based in London, this position will be part of a Global team of Actuaries and CAT Modellers for the 4th largest reinsurer in the world.

Responsibilities

  • Price MGA / binders contracts for EMEA Portfolios.
  • Evaluate partner premium, exposure and loss data and provide technical pricing indications using actuarial principles.
  • Participate in model evaluation, sensitivity testing and calibration studies.
  • Remain up to date with industry trends and best practice to adjust parameters and methodologies accordingly to monitor profitability of the portfolio.
  • Meet with MGA/binders partners and brokers. Participate in underwriting audits. Communicate SCOR's view of risk to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders throughout the company and promote the team as a recognized center of excellence for Pricing within the Specialty Insurance Group.
  • Engage in cross functional deep dives to evaluate and assess the performance of particular MGAs/set of MGAs.
  • Train & support junior members of the team.

Qualifications

  • Proven pricing experience in P&C insurance/reinsurance with recent Lloyd’s / London Market experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel and ability to manipulate and format data sets.
  • SQL, VBA, R, Python skills advantageous
  • Any CAT modelling experience will be advantageous.

  • Highly motivated and driven individual with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with excellent interpersonal verbal and written skills that enables the candidate to communicate with colleagues from non-actuarial team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills required.
  • Self-starting individual and excellent team player.
  • Stays up to date with new/emerging knowledge in actuarial pricing as well as in respect of major market and underwriting related issues.
  • Has a commercial outlook but with a principled stand where required and contributes to create viable and innovative solutions that outperform competitors and differentiates SCOR.

Required Education

  • Sound experience of P&C pricing experience and a Qualified actuary from a recognised actuarial organisation.
  • Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science or any other scientific discipline (statistics, physics, etc.).
