Pricing Actuary
Objective of Role:
To lead the Bangalore Life & Health Actuarial team (pricing), and to provide advice and technical expertise in respect of product initiatives throughout Life & Health business of Swiss Re in Australia and New Zealand.
Key Accountabilities:
- Leading the pricing team for the ANZ market in Bangalore by ensuring effective prioritization and allocation of work, satisfactory engagement of team members and monitoring delivery timelines.
- Support the pricing actuaries in pricing treaties for ANZ market; initial responsibilities will focus on Open Treaty Reviews (i.e. existing treaties open for new business)
- Provide Quote support/advisory recommendation for ANZ market for various Lines of Business.
- Provide support in maintenance of pricing Terms of Trade;
- Support/Lead the Asia pricing actuaries in any local/regional projects as required.
- Support & review ES requirements for the region if any.
- Work effectively with a cross-functional team of experts from client markets, underwriting, and claims towards assessing the risks associated with a treaty or opportunity;
- Provide technical, research and project management input for product development initiatives and pricing policy across all business lines in the Life & Health space;
- Always ensuring the adherence to pricing guidelines and standard methodologies, and their consistent application;
Key Skills & Knowledge:
- Excellent technical knowledge in all areas of pricing and product development;
- Fundamental understanding and knowledge of the ANZ (preferred) insurance and reinsurance industry and knowledge of the main products and services offered by various insurance and reinsurance companies;
- Ability to use sound actuarial judgement in a commercial environment;
- Good understanding of relevant actuarial best practices;
- Organization, prioritization and planning skills.
- Knowledge of actuarial L&H modelling and data analytical software's.
- Mentorship and guidance of junior team members
Candidate Requirements:
- Nearly qualified/ Qualified Actuary from any recognised actuarial body (IAI, IFoA, CAS, SOA).
- Strong technical insurance/reinsurance experience, with 5+ years of actuarial experience, ideally in Asian markets
- Experience in actuarial product design, pricing & ES, including application of any actuarial pricing tools. This will be an added advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
- Leadership and management experience preferred
