Financial Solutions Actuary

In this role you will contribute to growing the Financial Solutions line profitably, by marketing to and winning deals from clients in the Asia Pacific region. You will also contribute to the structuring, pricing and modelling of financially motivated solutions and build your expertise in this fast-paced and dynamic area.

Responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Work closely with market managers and prospects to grow our business
  • Structure and model solutions to address clients’ needs
  • Contribute to the growing knowledge base and possess solid understanding of various financially motivated solutions sets, accounting standards, solvency regimes and relevant regulations in active countries in the region
  • Present solutions and proposals to both internal and external stakeholders and clients

Key stakeholders and working relationships:

  • Work closely with marketing actuaries in the country locations who will source the business from clients
  • Work with pricing actuaries in the region on actuarial assumptions, where necessary
  • Foster a network with other teams across SCOR globally (e.g. risk management, finance, legal, technical) in order to understand and credibly contribute to the evolution of the Group's best practice in selling, assessing, structuring and managing financially motivated reinsurance business.
  • Maintain interaction with other departments across SCOR Global Life Asia-Pacific (e.g. product development, health, accounting) in order to contribute to multi-function projects

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant financial services industry experience in life insurance, life reinsurance, or life consulting environment
  • Solid experience in accounting standards (e.g. IFRS 4), solvency regimes (e.g. Solvency II, RBC, etc.), financial reporting, valuation, MCEV, and ALM
  • Awareness of detailed implications of emerging insurance capital and accounting standards for the life insurance industry preferred
  • Exposure to structured reinsurance concepts highly preferred

Required Education

  • Qualified actuary (A Fellowship qualification with one of the following actuarial associations – Society of Actuaries, Institute of Faculty of Actuaries, Institute of Actuaries of Australia). Part qualified candidate who demonstrates great potential will also be considered.
