Junior Reserving Actuary
About the Role
The focus of this role is to support the economic valuation and financial reporting under local GAAP, EVM and Solvency II for the Irish medical expense business (Medex), underwritten by Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in collaboration with Laya, an Irish life and health company.
Furthermore, it will support the transformation of the actuarial reserving process from US GAAP to IFRS 17.
As a Junior Reserving Actuary you will contribute by performing the following tasks
- support the actuarial valuation under local and Liechtenstein statutory, Economic Value Management (EVM) and Solvency II requirements for the Irish Health insurance portfolio
- support the transformation of the actuarial valuation process from US GAAP to IFRS 17
- preparing the internal and external (statutory) financial reportings and presentations
- closely cooperate with major internal stakeholders (Claims, Underwriting, Pricing, Finance/Accounting) including monthly reporting on key issues to provide early warning signals to senior management
- review and analyse detailed adhoc portfolio
Key factors to a successful fulfillment of these responsibilities are close interactions with the main internal stakeholders as well as observation of external factors such as market and regulatory changes followed by adequate measures.

About the Team
The incumbent will be part of our Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Zurich based actuarial team which is responsible for settling technical reserves at adequate levels meeting all local statutory, US GAAP, and IFRS 17 requirements for the region Europe and Middle East. In addition, we are supporting Swiss Re Group in all actuarial risk management aspects with respect to Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.
About You
The most relevant criteria for this position are the following:
- graduate in a quantitative field with interest in insurance mathematics or junior professional in actuarial field
- experience with and curiosity about programming
- strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal English communication skills
- ability to prioritize, plan, and implement across multiple work efforts simultaneously
- integrative and proactive personality with the ability to successfully work together with different personal styles and cultures
