Senior Actuarial Analyst

Your role at a glance

We have a great opportunity for a part qualified actuary to join our Retail Protection team here at L&G.

In this role you will support the Risk Pricing team to help maintain L&G as one of the UK’s leading market providers of Individual Protection products. You will do this by helping to develop and deliver experience investigations, assumption settings and methodologies to enable Retail Protection to meet its business goals.

This is a hybrid working opportunity that will allow you to work effectively from home or the office and can be based from either our Hove or London Offices.

What you'll be doing

  • Developing and maintaining the data integrity of an experience analysis system for Retail Protection business to ensure that key data is easily accessible for use within the wider Commercial team.
  • Interpreting the results of the experience investigations to develop and refine the pricing and best estimate basis, using data analysis and modelling techniques.
  • Maintaining and managing the existing suite of products and assisting in the delivery of new projects and initiatives developed within the business unit.
  • Assisting in the development and integration of the risk framework to ensure that it meets the necessary requirements.
  • Developing new and existing products by providing data analysis expertise and any additional support as required.
  • Using Actuarial, Machine Learning and/or Statistical techniques to create new scalable solutions to business problems.

What we're looking for

  • A part qualified actuary who is making good progress through the IFoA Exams.
  • Degree with significant statistical or data science components would be highly advantageous.
  • Previous experience of assumption setting within a Life Insurance environment would highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of a relevant actuarial/statistical modelling platforms (e.g. Emblem) and data manipulation tools (e.g. SAS or R) would be highly advantageous.
  • An understanding of Individual Protection products and key issues associated.
  • Conceptual thinking ability with the ability to solve hard, abstract problems with smart, creative and elegant solutions, with a preference for simplicity.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to manipulate complex spreadsheets and VBA code.
  • Effective planning & organisation skills with the ability to manage own time and appropriately prioritise multiple demands, disciplines and functions.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders and colleagues to support the delivery of key projects on time.

The role you are applying to is part of our rotational program, designed to further develop and enhance your skills, and as part of this program you will be expected to rotate in both of our sites in London and Hove.
