Actuary (Reporting & Analysis)
Job Description
The US Corporate Actuarial team is responsible for actuarial activities associated with SCOR’s US Life reinsurance business, including the following:
- Analysis of quarterly valuation results under Solvency II, US Statutory/regulatory reserves, and/or IFRS4/ IFRS17.
- Analysis of actual versus expected business performance.
- Analysis of key performance indicators of the US business
Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the understanding and analysis of quarterly financial information relating to seriatim and bulk life reinsurance business in accordance with Solvency II, IFRS, Statutory, US GAAP, and/or Tax principles.
- Support SGLA leadership in the analysis of IFRS17 for US Market.
- Liaise with SGLA’s Financial Controller’s team to understand the Adjusted Net Asset Value and explain variances between expected amounts and actual amounts.
- Liaise with SCOR’s Life Risk Modeling team to understand and explain the impacts to Risk Margin, Own Funds, and Solvency Capital Requirement for individual SCOR entities as well as SCOR Group as a whole
- Provide and explain Key Performance Indicators to key stakeholders in the US and across SCOR Group
- Develops and reviews analyses as needed of financial results. Communicates insights to management on profitability by client, duration, etc. Provides other insights regarding financial results regarding statutory, GAAP, IFRS and tax methodology impacts and other factors.
- Provides support to other areas such as accounting, FP&A, data management, etc. and liaise with Corporate Actuarial team on insights from Finance team
- Ability to converse in model development team in coding actuarial solutions to regulation changes.
- Complete special assignments and projects for the department, as necessary.
Qualifications
Experience:
- FSA (or equivalent)
- 5+ years’ experience with financial reporting and cash flow analysis or similar.
- Experience managing projects and effectively representing department at various meetings
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal, written and relationship building with ability to present insights to senior leadership
- Demonstrated ability to understand broader picture and impact of decisions.
- Proven leadership skills and ability to make strategic decisions.
- Ability to build & maintain relationships with colleagues throughout the SCOR Group, within the US and globally.
- Demonstrated ability to understand complex models and analysis to deliver required results.
- Technically astute within the actuarial discipline and industry software applications. Experience with Prophet & SQL is a plus.
- Rapid and consistent increase in responsibilities in an organization, preferred.
- Proven leadership skills and ability to make strategic decisions.
- Ability to build & maintain relationships with colleagues throughout the SCOR Group, within the US and globally.
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field with demonstrated record of academic excellence.
