About the Role

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Services Ltd (Irish Branch) is looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Pricing Department supporting the private medical insurance market. This role is based in Dublin.

The successful candidate will apply their strong technical skills in combination with sound commercial acumen across a wide variety of pricing and portfolio monitoring activities. They will work closely with various internal functions such as Products, Legal and Finance, as well as engaging regularly with clients. They will also be given opportunity to both participate in and actively shape key strategic projects and client initiatives. The successful candidate will be entrepreneurial, self-driven and have outstanding analytical, problem solving and communication skills. They will report to the Head of Medical Insurance Pricing, Ireland.

Responsibilities

Pricing / Product Development

  • Produce experience monitoring reports, including the review and development of all supporting assumptions.
  • Perform ad-hoc actuarial investigations into adverse trends.
  • Liaise with the Finance teams to ensure inputs for quarterly valuations (US GAAP, economic value reporting) are produced in a timely manner
  • Provide support for the pricing exercise (for example derivation of key claims assumptions, validation of the premium model, validation of member projections (lapses, new business, migrations), producing materials (pricing report, presentations) to brief internal and external stakeholders)
  • Perform costing of product features/ benefits, and calculating the impact of benefit amendments on existing products.
  • Own the pricing, sign-off process and client communication in respect of corporate referrals (including pipeline reporting), ensuring all deadlines are met.

Client engagement

  • Prepare risk management reports as requested
  • Coordinate the reconciliation of the best estimate loss ratios on a monthly basis
  • Engage regularly on pricing matters in client calls

Projects

  • Provide support for strategic projects, client initiatives and product development activities.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to existing processes, prioritise and implement agreed actions.

About You

  • Bachelor degree in Actuarial studies
  • Newly qualified Actuary up to 3 years pqe

  • Some experience in data analytics and/or machine learning would be a particular advantage
  • Some valuation / reserving experience would be an advantage
