DTRB is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (“FCA”) and comprises over 200 pensions professionals: actuaries, employee benefits specialists, investment consultants and administrators, led by five partners. We are a national practice with teams in London, Belfast, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester.
Your opportunity
Be part of a growing team, delivering industry-leading services. DTRB is a well-established team providing market-leading pensions advice to a wide range of clients, from household names to small businesses, and private sector companies and government organisations. Our experience includes some of the most exciting and innovative projects in the pensions industry over recent years.
Our success means we have grown significantly and have ambitious targets for further growth. We operate a number of industry-leading propositions, including the award-winning Deloitte Pensions Master Plan consolidation vehicle, which are driving significant levels of new business. We are looking for individuals with excellent client consulting and technical skills to lead client relationships, deliver first-class advice, and help us achieve our growth plans.
We take your development very seriously. We foster an open and friendly working environment that naturally allows everyone to learn from the wide range of experts within our practice. There is a career path for everyone.
We encourage consideration of flexible ways of working, both formal and informal arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for our people and our clients. If this opportunity is of interest to you with some flexibility, please do discuss with us.
Are you looking to return to the workplace after an extended career break?
For this role we can offer coaching and support designed for returners to refresh your knowledge and skills and help your transition back into the workplace after a career break of 2 years or more. If this is relevant for you, just let your recruiter know when you make your application.
Your role
DTRB’s team in London has a growing market share in trustee advisory services. We are looking for a part-qualified actuary, with knowledge of UK occupational defined benefit (DB) pensions, to focus primarily on supporting our London trustee team. As well as working on our existing clients, you will have the opportunity to be involved in generating new clients and projects.
You will also have the opportunity to work on corporate advisory engagements, mergers and acquisitions and de-risking projects such as liability management or pension scheme buy-outs.
Specific responsibilities would include:
- Carrying out day-to-day client service activities on existing trustee clients, in order to support the delivery of high-quality services
- Having client contact, including attending client meetings, to maintain strong relationships with our clients
- Assisting more senior members of the team in generating new clients, to help grow our presence in the pensions market
- Working effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution
- Actively contributing to a wide range of client projects of a technical actuarial nature, to provide high quality advice to our clients
- Contributing to practice management, for example working on specialist teams that develop industry-leading propositions (e.g. pensions consolidation, M&A, de-risking, funding, asset backed contributions, PPF levy).
Your work, your choice
At Deloitte we believe the best impact is the value we add, not the hours we sit at our desks. We carefully consider agile ways of working, both formal and informal, that allow for the best impact for our people and our clients. Please speak to your recruiter about the working pattern that works best for you.
Location: London with occasional domestic and international travel
Work pattern: This is a permanent full-time contract opportunity.
Your professional experience
The role will be well suited to a part-qualified actuary with experience of advising trustees of DB pension schemes. You should also be able to demonstrate some of the following:
- a knowledge of occupational DB pension schemes and pensions legislation
- experience of assisting with advice on/producing company accounting disclosures under IAS 19 and FRS101/102
- an interest in the workings of companies and the pensions issues they face
- an understanding of the commercial aspects of providing consulting services to clients.
Your service line: Tax Consulting
Arguably the most stimulating career environment in our industry, tax at Deloitte is a far cry from tax at other firms. Here, it’s all about collaborating with colleagues at the top of their game, across disciplines, for clients who urge us to constantly push the boundaries of our creativity. You’ll find a diverse mix of people, all working together to deliver best-in-class advice. And you’ll discover a structured programme that will help you develop even greater expertise. From fascinating projects to a wealth of secondment opportunities, both in the UK and overseas, you can enjoy a broad and rich career experience.
Personal independence
Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints. This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm. The recruitment team will provide further detail as you progress through the recruitment process.
