Senior Actuarial Analyst (Analytics)

Your role at a glance

We are looking for either an Actuarial Analyst or someone with a strong statistical/coding background to join our Risk Pricing & Analytics team as a Senior Analyst.

By joining the team you will be joining the UK's leading Individual Protection Pricing business, as we oversee the largest portfolio of Protection business in the UK for an individual insurer.

This role will include the application of GLM and/or Machine Learning techniques as well as significant use of data manipulation packages with an aim to inform pricing decisions and risk management as well as incorporating proposals within financial reporting.

This is a Hybrid working opportunity, based from our Hove Offices but you will be given the freedom to work in an agile way from both home and the office.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting all areas of the Risk Pricing & Analytics team to help maintain L&G as one of the UK’s leading market providers of Individual Protection products.
  • Interpreting the results of the experience investigations to develop and refine the pricing and best estimate basis, by employing data analysis and modelling techniques.
  • Maintaining and managing the existing suite of products and assist in the delivery of new projects and initiatives developed within the business unit.
  • Assisting in the development and integration of a new risk framework to ensure that it meets the necessary requirements.
  • Developing new and existing products by providing data analysis expertise and any additional support as required.
  • Using Actuarial, machine learning and statistical techniques to create new scalable solutions to business problems.
  • Representing the department by establishing and maintaining strong working relationships within the organisation. Including managing stakeholder expectations and working to agreed timescales and across other teams where necessary.

What we're looking for

  • Either a student actuary making good exam progress oran analytics professional with significant statistical and/or data science experience.
  • Prior experience working within an insurance environment (highly desirable)
  • Experience/Knowledge of relevant actuarial/statistical modelling platforms e.g. Emblem and data manipulation tools e.g. SAS or R (highly desirable)
  • Experience/Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to manipulate complex spreadsheets and VBA code.
  • Effective planning, organising and time management skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and colleagues to support the delivery of key projects.
  • A team player, with demonstrable experience of helping a team to achieve their goals.
  • Ability/willingness to coach/mentor more junior team members.

The role you are applying to is part of our rotational program, designed to further develop and enhance your skills, and as part of this program you will be expected to rotate in both of our sites in London and Hove.
