Position objectives and position summary (short and detailed definition of most important activities)

  • The role will report to the ANZ Valuation team based in Bangalore.
  • Some of the key responsibility will be :
  • Deliver quarterly valuation results for Australia & New Zealand (ANZ)business to the relevant Reporting Actuaries, ownership of other reserving tasks such as capital calculations, assumption setting/ testing, Sensitivities, Recapture of business etc.
  • Access the credibility of data for modelling purpose.
  • Perform user acceptance testing upon new Moses model release.
  • Ownership around ensuring quality and completeness of the data provided by the technical accounting team for quarterly valuation purpose.
  • Support ANZ region on Regulatory, Branch and SwissRe initiative projects.
  • Projects related to ANZ business such as System Process and Landscape developments, Moses model improvements, data flow automation, IFRS accounting standards implementation etc.

Main tasks/activities/responsibilities (in brief statements describe the main accountabilities of the job and specify responsibilities)

  • Deliver USGAAP, LOCAL STAT, Swiss Stat, IFRS & EVM reserving analysis for ANZ business.
  • Production of Statutory & Other regulatory requirements reports.
  • Ensure compliance with documented methodologies and bases.
  • Impact validation of updated assumptions.
  • Work closely with team in Sydney.
  • Provide support to Global Projects.
  • Contribute to improved quality and efficiency of reserving process.
  • Development of L&H landscape for ANZ region.
  • Perform user acceptance testing upon new Moses model release.
  • Support ANZ region on Regulatory, Branch and SwissRe initiative projects.
About Team

ANZ valuation team was set-up in the year 2009 in Swiss Re Bangalore. This is one of the pioneer teams to get into the global systems platform that Swiss Re has been targeting and involved in end-to-end aspects of Swiss Re ANZ reporting i.e. starting from data handling until explaining the movements in reporting figures to Head of Reporting who will sign-off the numbers from ANZ.

About You (education, linguistic ability, professional experience, leadership qualities, soft skills)

  • Actively pursuing and making good progress on actual examination from any of the following actuarial bodies FIA, FIAI, FIAA or FSA;
  • Around 3+ years of experience in reinsurance, life or health insurance products.
  • Strong technical knowledge, proficiency in working with spreadsheet packages, knowledge of a modeling software (Moses/RAFM, Prophet)
  • Experience with market consistent valuation and/or USGAAP an advantage
  • Ability to navigate and make good actual judgments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with people across various locations.
