About the Team:
In this position in the Products Team you will provide internal support for the full spectrum of Medical Reinsurance actuarial services for the US Market as well as selected markets in Latin America. Responsibilities include new and renewal business costing support, providing financial and actuarial services to client markets, underwriting, technical accounting and reserving. You will deal with a number of medical reimbursement products that Swiss Re is offering in the US, including fully insured major medical, employer stop loss, HMO Reinsurance, or distinct market segments. You will also support financial reporting and project work.
About the role:
Actuarial & Underwriting Focus:
- Develop actuarial costing and experience reporting models
- Develop quote costs, assumptions and model results or experience studies in compliance with corporate governance
- Support quoting and referral processes and timely submission of referral documents under defined approval guidelines
- Timely and efficient turnaround of multiple requests for proposals to assist in reaching financial objectives
- Recommend rate structures for new business or renewals by evaluating and analyzing prior claims experience and other financial aspects
- Support the development of the Annual Plan
- Construct financial scenarios for client discussions
- Work on projects to improve the pricing/costing process and understanding of the business
Client Focus:
- Working closely with US and Latin America Products Team and Client Managers to support strong relationships with clients
- Participate in internal discussions regarding renewals, products, change in strategic direction of health insurance, or other actuarial matters
- Collaborate with various teams within the organization
Leadership and Management:
- Support the client team by fostering open communication and exchange of creative ideas
- Ensure and promote regular communication within and across client teams
- Coordinate support of multi-disciplined team(s) across matrix to achieve objectives
Compliance and Controlling:
- Ensure compliance with all Swiss Re guidelines, underwriting and pricing parameters, best practices as well as Code of Conduct
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of financial reporting for assigned clients
- Ensure that relevant Group Divisional and business unit deadlines are met at all times
About You
- A thorough knowledge of actuarial concepts and principles
- Minimum four-year degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or related field with proven mathematical skill and analytical ability
- Minimum of three years of life and/or healthcare experience in insurance and/or reinsurance
- Knowledge of medical or managed care products is preferred
- Completion of two/three exams from the Society of Actuaries is advantageous. Participation in the Actuarial Development Program to attain their Associate/Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries designation will be considered
- Experience within various disciplines (e.g. actuarial, underwriting, sales, finance) is advantageous
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English required.
