Main tasks/activities/responsibilities (in brief statements describe the main accountabilities of the job and specify responsibilities)

 

We're looking for a highly motivated Life and Health (L&H) Actuarial Analyst to join the Pricing Services North Asia Team. Your main tasks will be –

  • Perform experience studies (ES) for Asia, specifically for Japan and South Korea market.
  • Analyse and validate insurance portfolio data, and also work closely with data/system cross functional teams to focus on data quality.
  • Develop models for experience studies exposure and expected calculations for various lines of business such as Critical Illness, Mortality.
  • Develop portfolio analysis reports with trends and key insights on Actual vs Expected, lapses and claims development based on risk factors such as underwriting cohorts, policy years, age bands, sum assured and more.
  • Work closely with Pricing/Valuation teams to share insights from experience analysis for assumption settings.
  • Provide technical reviewer support for Experience Studies, involving model validation and results peer review.
  • Brainstorm ideas for automating and continuous development of current processes.
  • Participate in model developments for ES in platforms like SAS/R/Python.

Team

The L&H Pricing Services Team is responsible for providing analytical and product development support in experience monitoring to Swiss re units by:

  • Analysing portfolio reinsured by the company for different regions mainly Japan and South Korea
  • Providing insights from experience emerging from the Life and Health reinsurance treaties to Pricing and Valuation teams
  • Comparing Actual versus Expected experience for different lines of business mainly mortality, critical illness, hospital cash

 

Job requirements (education, linguistic ability, professional experience, leadership qualities, soft skills)

  • Bachelors/Master's degree in Mathematics/Statistics 
  • Highly motivated towards actuarial qualification from recognised institution (at least 3-5 CT series passed)
  • Strong understanding of Life & Health Insurance domain is an advantage
  • Strong programming skills in SAS/VBA, R, Python are preferred and experience in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access) is required
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
  • Ability and enthusiasm to work with various regional teams within and outside India
  • Strong team player
